    New plastering

Any tips on plastering a 1930s semi? All the old blown plaster has been hacked off from the internal walls & the stair wall which backs onto a garage & the area around the door also. Do these areas have to be redone with lime as Ive been reading about it allowing walls to breath. Is the modern...

    New plaster

Im having my walls bonded/skimmed, therefore I've had to hack off all the old blown plaster. However I was tapping one of the upstairs walls which sounded hollow and when I took some plaster off it looks like some of the bricks that were used have the 'recess' in the top where the plaster is...

    LED stair lights

Many thanks that helps! Will use in future hopefully. But I'm probably going to cut them and solder back together and apply heat shrink for good measure. Done a test on a spare one and works fine. Only seven to do so not too bad!

    LED stair lights

I'm fitting some leds into my stairs, but have found that the adaptor end is not fitting behind the stringer and wall two well. All old plaster had been hacked off so there's a good 20mm gap for all the wires. Apart from cutting each adaptor end off and rejoining does anyone have any other...

    Cost of drain pipe

Sorry for delay, been so busy lately. No the quote was actually £150 to take down gutters at front of the house and rehang as their all running away from the pipes and therefore overfilling every time it rains. The £75 was extra cost just for the new pipe.

    Cost of drain pipe

I need a full drainpipe for a two storey 1930s house. Ive been quoted £75 for upvc. Looked on some builders sites but still unsure how much these items really are. Sounds excessive! I need the whole lot (the shoe/outlet?) the top piece (hopper?) Any ideas on cost? Cheers, Mike

    Extra sockets

Ah yes, probably a flat screen TV etc. But yes I agree sockets do look better and are probably safer. I was in a fire once, luckily escaped but not a good experience :o(
