    Baxi Solo Thermocouple (again)

You need to find specs on it. For a 750 mV 'couple one maker listed the internal resistance as 2.89 ohms and usually the loaded voltage is half that, for maximum power transfer into a load of ~3 ohms. I'd guess that the circuitry fed by this is ruining it.

Part of that happens because I'm a cheapskate. :(

    Solar powered down lights

Another way if the lights are only on a few hours each day is to have a battery in the shed powering the lights that is trickle charged from low voltage wiring from a charger in the house.

    Strange heating problem

Maybe by checking where the pipes are hot besides 'above and below the pump'. There must be (?) flow in the pump area. With this and the bleed valve clues you may be able to zero in on a pipe section or a valve. Can you post a drawing of your layout, or that of a typical layout?

Whatever the volume of your bathroom, the fan should be able to change air eight times per hour.

    Channel 4: Confessions of an

There is supposed to be a road not that far from me where people get routinely abducted. The 1980 Encyclopedia Britannica had an entry about a black couple who claimed to have been abducted. IIRC, a circle of warts was found around the man's privates and no doctors could explain it. There...

    HOT TUB

Tub is pulling more than rated current (need ammeter to check) or tub is pulling rated current and wire is too small (need wire sizing table and tub nameplate data) or . . .

    Baxi Solo Thermocouple (again)

Could be faulty placement or 'common mode leakage' (whatever that is). If you can measure the open circuit and loaded voltage output it might give you a clue as to placement problems.

Technics SA-206 stereo receiver from 1982

I hope I don't get sucked into that outcome. Having bought this book http://www.amazon.com/Making-Decisions-Edition-Dennis-Lindley/dp/0471908088 from one of your guys, I should be able to crank out a decision tree with likelihoods, plug in my utility function and pop up with a numerical...

Technics SA-206 stereo receiver from 1982

Anybody have a link to a schematic? The Web is leading me on a wild goose chase. The output intermittently disappears but the signal strength meter says the RF works. If the problem is in the huge hybrid IC output stage this thing is probably not getting fixed. But, since both channels...

    Solar powered down lights

"If in doubt, chicken out" or use LED downlights. And use a car battery discharged about 50% just once to get some idea of what you're up against. Battery unloaded voltage or a hydrometer will tell you the depth of discharge. Perhaps there are battery rental places.

Capacitance between parallel conductors in a cable

Yes, dV/dI can be close to zero but what is the value of V so you can determine the resistor value? LED makers don't seem to control this V very well. LED brightness vs LED current is predictable but much less so for LED brightness vs LED voltage so you want to drive an LED with a current...

Poor water pressure - Home Boost ?

If you could measure the internal pressure in a pipe upstream and downstream of the suspect section or valve with water flowing you could judge whether the pressure drop is within limits, just like using a voltmeter in an electrical circuit. There may be a noninvasive way to do this if you...

Poor water pressure - Home Boost ?

Capacitance between parallel conductors in a cable

And for a 20 mA red indicating LED supplied from a 5 +/- 0.2v source and having its own tolerance on the voltage across the LED, 150 ohms serves as a close-enough current source. I suppose 0/0 is as undefined and indeterminate as infinity/infinity. With spreadsheets you can determine the...

Poor water pressure - Home Boost ?

Capacitance between parallel conductors in a cable

It's more or less the same thing. An ideal current source can be a voltage source of value = infinite, in series with a resistor of infinite value. IIRC, the compliance of electronic current sources sort of addresses the "resistor" value. BTW, the highest internal impedance of a power...
