    Condensation on toilet cistern

    I suffered from this problem too, its very annoying! In the end I replaced the loo with a cistern which is enclosed inside a unit. A bit of an expensive way of getting rid of a problem but it works! I did read somewhere on the internet that you can empty the cistern and wax the inside. What...

    Dissapointing new electric shower

    I have just had a new shower (professionally) fitted. It's a Gainsbourgh 9.5kw. (model 965sdl) The flow rate is pathetic, the temp knob has to be turned almost completley to the highest heat position to get the correct heat and this makes the water flow really really bad. It replaced...

    TRV=Noisy Rad????

    I've read somewhere that a TRV fitted at the wrong end of a rad can make it noisy????? I have a rad in the bedroom which has started making a deep metallic clunk. There is a rapid burst of these clunks when the radiator very first kicks in (long before it could be effected by expansion due to...

    How to tighten a plastic joint???

    After following ChrisR's advice by pushing the pipe into the fitting, then loosening the screw a little, pulling the pipe and then tightening the fitting, I've had a dry night (sound like a 5yr old bedwetter :P ) and the leak seems to have stopped. Fingers crossed it stays OK. Whilst spending...

    How to tighten a plastic joint???

    I had my central heating fitted over a year ago. They fitted plastic piping and jointing in the loft, which I wasn't sure about but they said it's stronger and more frost resistant than traditional copper.(Piping had to go in loft due to bugalow with concrete floors) Anyway, now one of these...

    Adding a Socket For cooker hood

    I thought this was easy...then I read some of the posts in this forum. I have just installed a cooker Hood.I want to add a single socket to the ring circuit to run it. Combi Boiler Water shut off question

    Hi, I need to replace the hot water tap in my bathroom. It is fed from a combi boiler. Obviously I need to turn of the cold water feed coming into the house, but knowing very little about boilers, I'm a little bit concerned about getting an air lock in the system when I turn the water back on...

    PLUG SOCKET FOR COOKER HOOD

    To be honest JohnD, I think b&q don't know what theyre talking about. I think it is just a vented type(to outside) then the fact that the outlet is in the chimney is not a problem because the air will vent straight into the PVC tubing. You right, I think recirculation is a bit of a waste of time.
