    Junction Box / Wago Connecters

Does this picture make sense when using the connector block option? Basically, use a connecter block and store it in the patress box in the socket on the left? Alternatively, I could use the MF junction box in your post and i'd just need one of them?

    Junction Box / Wago Connecters

As an image example, the attached pictures show the actual sockets and the wiring that goes under the floor I have roughly drawn on. The socket on the left is on the current ring main and the cables shown in red is roughly how they are connected. The socket on the right is the socket I want to...

    Junction Box / Wago Connecters

As per some previous posts, I have a ring main extension ready to cut in once I can get the spark booked to fit me a new consumer unit. In the meantime I have just one socket downstairs to add so am looking to cut that in before that. I can't spur it as I intend to spur off this new socket at...

    Shower Fuse Size

I put it all back today, with new 30A fuse and the shower is working. With it running I pressed the test switch for the external RCD and that worked. I also flipped the 40A MCB and that cut the power. It does all need an update for sure.

    Shower Fuse Size

I had to put the fuse in a vice to split it, pliers only made a scratch. This is a picture of what I found inside, apart from white sandy stuff which all spilled out.

    Shower Fuse Size

Sometimes a picture can speak 1000 words. Attached are the external MCB/RCD and the main fuse box (the missing slot is the 30A fuse I have taken out that was for the shower). The MCB nor RCD tripped on this circuit, just the fuse blew. The pic of the two fuses shows the brand new one I bought...

    Shower Fuse Size

The fuse is one of these : https://www.screwfix.com/p/wylex-sfcfl30-30a-cartridge-fuse/42738 ... a 30A cartridge type. I checked it on a multimeter and it's dead. There is a bit signs of heat on the fuse holder and the box itself where the fuse plugs in but I cannot say whether it's only just...

    Shower Fuse Size

We have had a shower for a long while, like most clean people in this modern day. An electrician replaced our old one about 2 years ago to a Triton Sambada. All has been fine until last week the fuse blew. We are still clean, although the shower has not worked for 1 week it blew the day we...

LED TV's drop out when desktop fridge pumps kicks off

The Samsung TV in my son's room would go black for a second or two randomly. I remember someone saying once that they can loose sync, for some reason I can't remember, when using certain HDMI cables. I changed the HDMI cable and it never happened again.

    Ring Main Extension Ohms

I posted similar to this before where I extend the ring main to fit 5 new sockets upstairs and then get high Ohm readings. Well, I stripped it all out and started again, brand new cable. I put 5 new sockets in, run the cable around and back to where I will cut it into the main (when the sparky...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

Quick update. The smart meter scheduled to be installed today didn't get installed. The installer couldn't work out the "wires", ie, he couldn't work out where they were going. I have a fuse box and then additional have been added, ie, outside circuit comes out to an external RCD, the shower...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

Probably a full day at least to be fair. In my mind I was just thinking for a few hundred quid cash, i'd call the company and say "this job has got problems, it's going to take me all day to fit this meter", get paid by the company and by the the house owner or, he could come back on a day more...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

Quick update on this. On page 01 I advised later on that the new ring extension was giving me about 5ohms on the live and neutral hence being extra cautious about cutting it in to the main ring, I have tested the sockets point to point and it looks like there is one leg of the cable which is...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

Gutted, was hoping for a good deal. Regards having a smart meter, I asked the company to install one, I liked the idea of being able to physically see the electricity being used and the cost and also, not having to keep doing readings myself as it seems quite regular they slip me onto an...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

Thanks for the information, some great stuff. I will measure the earth wire and kicking myself why I didn't do that already! The earth wire in the existing ring cable from a memory is thinner than the wire in my new cable so suspect it is 1mm whereas my new cable is 1.5mm. I will check it...

Extension of Ring Main & Readings

I need to extend the ring main upstairs in our house, in two rooms there is only one single socket. I have taken up the floor boards, run 2.5 twin/earth around under the floor, chipped away the brick, installed the backboxes and sockets and then left the new cable waiting to be cut in to the...

    Fused Switch Terminals

I appreciate all the help with this guys, I reinstalled the FCU today as per the advice and it's all working again. I put in a 5amp fuse instead of a 3amp as that's what I had to hand; and it has given me a reminder that I need to get a stock of different fuses for the house.

    Fused Switch Terminals

I didn't get to fit it back today and now the kids are home I won't be able to turn the sockets off; i'll die if I turn off the Internet at this time. Working from home tommorrow so will find a time to get it done tomorrow. I did a Google image search on this product and found the product...

    Fused Switch Terminals

The light fitting is a little bit like this but not quite as fancy (I won't post a pic of our actual light fitting, I don't actually like it and want to change it) and we have 4 energy saver light bulbs usually screwed in. When I find a nice replacement fitting it will be something like this...

    Fused Switch Terminals

Appreciate the help guys, I really do. Trust me to have a weird thing. So, to get this back connected I connect little L1 and little N1 to the supply (ring main cable) and the load (light cable) to little N2 and the big L2? If so, I think my only last question is, should I also replace the...
