How effective is sand joint stabiliser?

What results should I expect from using this? After leaving fresh kiln dried sand to compact over a couple of weeks I applied some sand joint stabiliser which I bought off ebay. Mixed as per the instructions, I was expecting it to turn the sand rock hard but instead its just firmed it up a...

    Sealing block paving in October?

Yeah its an expensive waste to get wrong. I think I may just go with some joint stabiliser to keep the sand in place till next summer. I believe I can apply it so long as the surface is dry.

    Sealing block paving in October?

I've just refurbished my block paving because it had been severely neglected. Looks a million times better and I've got some very expensive Resiblock superior (matt of course!) to go down but I'm concerned the concrete blocks won’t dry sufficiently - this will lead to premature failure of the...

    Concrete fence post colour

I’ve got some tatty concrete fence posts and gravel boards that really need tarting up. I wanted to paint them and keep the colour as near as regular concrete as they are e.g. an off white colour. I bought some masonry paint samples from Dulux online but they are all quite different as...

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

Hi all, I replaced the compression fittings and fitted new seals to the traps which were previously a bit iffy, there is a significant improvement so thank you for the heads up. I also thoroughly cleaned the plumbing with bleach so we'll see how it goes. Cheers.

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

It was a few months ago but if I recall I just pushed the brown pipe back in, this was because the new sink is slightly higher than the old one and so the brown pipe isn't quite long enough to make a good connection/fit correctly with the rubber seals.

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

Hi, yes I did remove and refit the white multi coulping. To be honest the fit is not very good and I suspect that is my culprit, it's quite loose. If I can get rid of it and replace it with some solvent weld piping then I think that will cure the problem. So one of these...

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

Hi, I appreciate that but I never had the issue until I fitted the new sink and moved the pipes round a bit. I think I'm going to replace the plumbing on the right hand side with solvent weld type (and a new trap) and see how that goes. Smells coming up through the plug hole are rarely an...

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

Ah I see! So the lesser of two evils is to have the washing machine before the trap, as it currently is? I just had a brainwave, given half of the pipe work is solvent welded I can just keep that and replace the bits that aren't. Seems obvious really but I am a novice, in the words of Top...

Kitchen drains not airtight, new plumbing required?

I fitted a new kitchen sink but used the existing plumbing, unfortunately due to the slight difference in location of the plug holes I've been unable to get a perfect seal on some of the plumbing joints (despite my best efforts!). I've used some external leak sealer which has successfully...
