GlowWorm 30cxi dropping pressure - where's the water going?!

Thanks both. Yeah, a quick google gets loads of hits on leaky PRV's so not too much of a shock. Going to dig out a pressure gauge first and make sure the EV isn't "flat" before doing anything else. One way or the other, once it's stopped leaking and holding pressure I need to get some...

GlowWorm 30cxi dropping pressure - where's the water going?!

Took a bit of time trying to get to the bottom of this, not helped by the cold and wet weather. Anyway, today the pressure dropped to 0.8bar when the CH was on, so I topped it up to 1.8 to see if I could finally find any signs of where the water was going. Went outside to see water coming...

    Texecom Premier 24

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP and all other contributors to this thread - going to be a big help when I get around to installing my own Texecom Premier system. Just wanted to add, in our old house we had a replacement UPVC door with an annoying rounded profile that meant the normal...

    data cable installations help

For what it's worth, I ran Cat5E throughout my old house with no problems and I'm no spark! Hardest parts were deciding cable routes and implementing them through joists, channelling walls, etc. whilst taking into consideration existing services, and terminating the wall sockets in each room...

GlowWorm 30cxi dropping pressure - where's the water going?!

Checked with the heating off for a bit, no more water out of the condensate drain. Guess I need to keep lifting boards and looking for a leak unless anyone has any better ideas!

GlowWorm 30cxi dropping pressure - where's the water going?!

Thanks - I'd not appreciated it should stop when the boiler is off, that helps a lot with tracing the fault...

GlowWorm 30cxi dropping pressure - where's the water going?!

Hi All, Recently had a new PCB and filler loop fitted to my 30cxi. The filler loop was steadily leaking prior to this, which seemed to be the reason for the system constantly losing pressure and needing to be topped up. Now that the filler loop isn't leaking, the system is still losing...

Pet Friendly alarm system - zones, PIRs, etc.

Thanks for the initial feedback guys - Europlex thanks for the vote of confidence specifically. I work in IT so am hoping my logical approach will help out with this little project... As for the dog, no we don't have a utility room, hence we will likely end up crate-training or at least...

Pet Friendly alarm system - zones, PIRs, etc.

Hi All, I've just started to plan out a DIY install, probably of a Texecom Premier based system, to replace the current Wireless alarm in our new house. Main reason for DIY is I can add in PIR’s and door contacts, and run cabling slowly over time as we decorate and change different parts of...

recommendation for a wireless room stat

No comment ;) So the Owl can work with multi zones (i.e. individual rooms) too? Need to look into it more then. The selling point for the Honeywell Evohome for me at the moment is that I can set just the bathroom and kitchen for early morning when we get up, for showers and breakfast...

recommendation for a wireless room stat

[/url] BG engineer told me you can get these for free at the moment (until April I think) if you sign up to take Gas/Electric from them and they are looking to expand the functionality, with smart metres and more home control...

recommendation for a wireless room stat

That looks really interesting. I'd love a Nest but don't believe they work in the UK and last time I checked, it didn't seem like that would change any time soon. The problem I have with this sort of thing is you only have one room temperature sensor. That's great if you live in an open...

Glowworm 24CI - how old is it?

Hi, We've got a 30CXi which isn't too dissimilar although I don't know if they were out around the same time or one preceeded the other. It looks almost identical other than a digital timer on ours. In case it helps, the one we have was supposedly installed around the middle of 2006.

    GlowWorm 30CXi completely dead

I agree with everything you say here Tony, however again as the customer with no expert knowledge you have to work on trust. In this economy, I suspect lots of people will take on jobs they may not be 100% confident on. I'd much rather someone say they can't fix something, express their...

    GlowWorm 30CXi completely dead

No, and he didn't ask to be. I would have been happy to pay a call out if he'd wanted for his trouble. However, his general attitude means that if I have a plumbing issue in future, that isn't boiler specific, he'll be top of my list to call. A bit of give and take in these sort of...

    GlowWorm 30CXi completely dead

Erm, no-one said anything about him being a numpty, or him needing my help. I said I could have shared information with him to help fix the boiler. Where's the harm in that, or is it only a valid fix if the engineer comes up with the diagnosis and fix on their own? Yes I do, however as...

    GlowWorm 30CXi completely dead

Second engineer came out yesterday and also diagnosed PCB as the cause. He checked and there was no DC current coming out of it. He's coming back today to replace it, as well as the dripping filling loop check valve that started all this by leaking. Fingers crossed...

    GlowWorm 30CXi completely dead

Well, after the comments on here, I've cancelled the engineer coming back tomorrow with a new PCB. I now need to find another who can come out in a hurry and has GlowWorm knowledge. To answer some other comments, the flow sensor was disconnected, as were all of the other low-voltage elements...
