    Intergas boiler

I'll weigh in on this debate with some real-life experience... We had an Intergas Xclusive 36 installed a couple of months ago. Temp for CH is set to 70 and DHW is set to 55 - I don't recall what the max temp's are in the installer settings, I assume factory default, i.e. I could manually set...

    Replacements for Metal Halide floodlights?

Hi, I've got some exterior floodlights like this https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TLFL70H.html What/where can I find to replace of a similar spec'? I'm guessing its all moved to LED lights but not sure what I'm looking for. Is there anything that can deliver a similar warm, soft glow like...

External lights - floods & bulkhead, circuit issues

Good stuff - good point, thanks.

External lights - floods & bulkhead, circuit issues

Yep, guessed I’d be getting my multi-meter out. Am I right to think I should see permanent power to the photocell and input to the relays, and then obviously switched output from the relays if I chuck a towel over the ‘cell? Based on memory of the system, the order of tracing would be CU ->...

External lights - floods & bulkhead, circuit issues

I knew someone would say that! I’m away for a few days but will grab a load when I’m back home.

External lights - floods & bulkhead, circuit issues

Hi All, With our current house we inherited what appears to be a very well designed & installed electric system. The previous owners had invested in a full re-wire and whoever actually did it for them did a very neat and tidy job in my (amateur) eyes. Everything is clearly labelled, circuits...

    Intergas HRE36/40 or RFC36

We're about 1.5months in to our new Intergas Xclusive 36. We only have 1 shower at the moment, however its a big rain-shower type head. With 2 adults and 2 young children, its pretty common for the shower to be running at the same time as "something" else, such as dishwasher, washing machine...

    Water in Gas mains!

You’d be surprised how low the pressure is for much of the network - Water in pipes is an eternal PITA for the GDN’s. Sounds like they are having to do a purge and relight across all affected properties?

    Oversizing radiators - how much?

Not pedantic at all - this is a great answer, thanks. Explains something I've wondered about clearly and succinctly, and helps me a hell of a lot to size properly going forward.

    Oversizing radiators - how much?

I've read lots on here about oversizing radiators so the system can run at a lower temp and keep the boiler condensing more of the time. Is there a rough target factor for oversizing? (I'm guessing it probably depends on fuller heat calc's but a rough rule of thumb would be good.)

Ours is linked to Hive. Let’s us control heating, lights, etc.

    Thought so - thanks.

Stupid question - flow & return

Looking under floorboards at where apparently a radiator had been removed from our central heating system at some point... The 10mm tails from the main 22mm flow and return pipes that were connected to the radiator have been joined. This is essentially creating a permanent, open bypass from flow...

Are deaerators a necessity with combi boiler?

Interestingly, our new boiler (Intergas Xclusive 36) doesn't have an AAV - it has a manual bleed valve in its place. Yep - the heat exchanger on the old boiler was on its last legs, and the bathroom radiator was was in a mess. I've now replaced all but 2 radiators and the boiler has just been...

Why are radiators hot in middle of night when boiler is off?

I'm no expert, however I'd want to be clearer on your symptoms before doing anything. Your statement above suggests the boiler is running but not showing any indication. As well as the previous advice about checking if its the diverter valve, you should also confirm 100% the function of the...

Are deaerators a necessity with combi boiler?

I've got one of those Spirovents on our system. Works ok initially to get air out as you fill and bleed a system, however once the system is full I don't think it works so well - I constantly got air in the upstairs radiators, especially the bathroom one which is physically the highest. Most of...

    Intergas WeatherComp sensor

****! It starts getting complicated. I'd need to measure the exact orientation of the wall, check my latitude, and then spend ages lost in Google working it all out. Alternatively could I put a sun shade over it?! I'll need to investigate further into all this...

    Clock on intergas xtreme

Same here - Intergas Xclusive running off a Hive so no internal clock usage, and no clock shown on the left (I didn't realise it could show a clock!)

    Intergas WeatherComp sensor

I assume with the right combination of positioning of the sensor, and refinement of the heating line in the boiler param's, that is a situation that could be mostly avoided. If Intergas' own position is as my installer suggested, that consumers would regret installing the WeatherComp sensor, it...

    Intergas WeatherComp sensor

Long story short, I don't think my installer was overly keen on adding WeatherComp, and was against it from the start. Brought the sensor with him on install day but really wasn't keen. Lots of anecdotal stories about it not working and him having issues with them in the past... Ended up by...
