I'm really pleased with the system. The alerting isn't quite as good as I'd hoped, in that it doesn't always seem to work, or sometimes I get multiple alerts for the same event. However it is good to connect and view the PIR cameras remotely. I'd definitely recommend the PowerMaster system.

    Glowworm 30cxi - pressue sensor/reading issues

BG came out yesterday as the boiler completely gave up the night before with a low pressure warning and no amount of filling would resolve it. The pressure sensor was filthy and needed cleaning to resolve the errant pressure reading, but also it was identified the pressure release valve was...

    Glowworm 30cxi - pressue sensor/reading issues

Ha, indeed! Drain the full system or isolate the boiler and drain that?

    Glowworm 30cxi - pressue sensor/reading issues

Hi All, Got up this morning to no hot water. Checked the boiler and it was flashing the red warning light and showing low pressure (0.6bar) This was odd as it was over 1bar at the beginning of the week and I can't find any leaks. Anyway, tried to fill it with the notoriously carp filler loop...

Is it worth installing a Visonic Powermaster system as a DIY install?

Thought I best update this with what I ended up doing... I now have a fully working Powermaster 30 G2 based install with PIRs, camera PIRs, contacts, internal/external siren, etc. From the moment it was delivered to the point it was all installed and commissioned took me 3 full days working...

Which System - Pros and cons

I was given the impression by MAP that self installing the Visonic system would give me access to these features but I've not been convinced yet so haven't pulled the trigger - your comments here are making me be thankful for that. I agree it would be easy to self host the PowerManage server...

Which System - Pros and cons

For what its worth, I'm in the final stages of making a similar decision. I'm currently leaning towards the Visonic system after a conversation with one of the guys at MAP Security. The problem I have is that 1) there isn't a lot of experience with the new cloud enabled alarm systems shared on...

Is it worth installing a Visonic Powermaster system as a DIY install?

If the pain of install is worth it (i.e. I'll end up with a better, more flexible system) I'm willing to work through that pain! I guess the key thing I really need to understand is if the Powermaster kit enables a home user/installer to access the VoD capabilities and any remote management (I...

Is it worth installing a Visonic Powermaster system as a DIY install?

Fair point - house renovation was probably too strong a term. Wired isn't an option unfortunately due to a number of rooms already being recently plastered, decorated, new flooring, etc.

Alternative lamp for 70w Metal Hallide exterior light?

Thanks 333rocky333 - I think you confirmed what I suspected, that it wasn't easy (i.e. cheap!) to rectify this. eveares - I'd thought about gel filters too but decided it was too much of a hack. End result = a normal sodium light has been ordered and the hallide one will be re-commissioned as...

Is it worth installing a Visonic Powermaster system as a DIY install?

I've seen somewhere that the system makes more sense as a monitored solution - I don't want to invest and install a new system only to find I don't get half of the benefits because its not monitored. Due to a house rennovation I'm replacing the old Response wireless alarm and want to fit...

Alternative lamp for 70w Metal Hallide exterior light?

Our house has a number of external floodlights (running 70w sodium vapour high pressure lamps) that act as dusk till dawn units from one central light sensor. One of the lights died a death, apparently due to bad fitment allowing water ingress which has slowly damaged the internals. I've...

Electrics to shed - option review opinions

Thanks bas. I'd originally planned to use a remote switch (as have some spare) for the lights until someone suggested the two way switching. That would be cheaper overall as it'd drop the cost of the SWA. Think I need a follow up conversation with the spark(s)...

Electrics to shed - option review opinions

Thanks Andy. I was hoping it would come down to personal preference and not end up depending on some technical issue. We plan on re-tiling the kitchen and replacing the worktops in the near future, so a bit of mess now isn't the end of the world. I think that is decision made - option 2...

Electrics to shed - option review opinions

Hi All, Following my original thread http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/swa-for-new-shed.408691/ I've now (finally!) spoken to a few sparks to get ideas of cost and what they would do. This has led to 2 general camps in terms of design, both of which seem ok to my amateur understanding...

    SWA for new shed

Thanks AndyPRK - I thought I'd read that a few times, hence me thinking 4-core could be useful in future. Suppose its another question to ask my spark...

    SWA for new shed

Thanks again John - I feel we are now into the sort of detail that my spark can worry about, however really appreciate the extra information and understanding it has given me.

    SWA for new shed

@pjcomp - thanks for making me stop being lazy and get some prices... 25m length from TLC is a LOT less than the reel from ScrewFix :)
