Anyone with experience of Sabre boiler flues?

Ok. I might leave that bit then for the gas safe guy when he connects the gas supply.

Anyone with experience of Sabre boiler flues?

Where does the restrictor ring go in the flue? I can see nowhere in the flue which will allow it. Also do I put the supplied spigot ring in the elbow joint on the face which meets the actual boiler?

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

Haha yeah all done now guys. Turned out it was a fish tail tie which braced the cavity in the wall. As I drilled further it cam loose and I could completely pull it out. Now to fit the flue and pipes to the boiler.

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

Yes it looks butterfly shaped, or fish tailed. My core drill has "teeth" every 90deg. These sort of catch on the metal and jerk the whole drill. I shall try the low pressure method. Cheers for all the help guys.

Core drilling through a wall but have hit a problem. PICS

Yes, now you mention it, it does resemble a fish tail. Should I leave it be or carry on drilling through. Is the fish tail crucial to the staircase? And the boiler is not going under the stairs, only the flue:

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

Yes! This is in a ground floor masionette, so the stairs are part of the above maisonette. I have access to (from outside) and own the space under their stairs though. Right, well I'm gonna carry on drilling through tomorrow then, though the core drill doesn't like it being metal and all.

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

The boiler has a brick wall seperating it from the stairs; it's in a different room. Can't help but feel this thread has gone slightly off topic lol.

Right, the boiler itself is not in that "under the stairs" void. The flue just passes through it, as Kevplumb pointed out. I have had advise from 2 independent plumbers to do it like this, one of whom will be connecting the gas and commisioning the boiler when I'm finished.

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

The pictures show an "under the stairs" cupboard which the flue passes through to get outside. The boiler is sat on the other side of an internal wall and has the necessary manufacturers clearance all round.

That's put my mind at rest, thanks. I had visions of the staircase above collapsing as I take out a crucial anchor point.

Using the core drill to fit flue but have hit a problem. PIC

I have been using a core drill to drill through a wall for a boiler flue. I have got so far either side of the wall but have come across something metal between the courses of bricks. Now, this hole is very close to the bottom/back of the above masionettes staircase. I am worried this metal...

Confirmation of regs and a chasing question, vert or horiz

Only reason I thought Croydon was because I saw LABC, and got it confused with LBC (London Borough of Croydon). But by pure coincidence I was actually right haha. I know the BP garage you mean. Good luck with it.

Should boiler and washing machine be on their own circuit?

Thanks Eric. I should have mentioned that this is following a complete rewire that I have done myself and am having an electrician to certify soon (please noone start lecturing me on how this is not how it should be done-I am aware). So putting in another circuit to CU makes no odds to me LABC...

Confirmation of regs and a chasing question, vert or horiz

LABC? Are you a Croydon man Darren? If so me too, and I also have an all concrete place. Mine was built in the 60s and had 1 single socket per room. Luckily conduit was used throughout, so I was able to use this for the rewire. Then had to chase out floors to put in extra sockets. I...
