Hi guys,
About to plasterboard a stud wall under my stairs (cloakroom WC). As you can see there is a lip of the stairway protruding past the studs..deliberately to allow plasterboard and skim. Call it poor planning or just a wonky stairs but I incorrectly assumed the protruding edgeswas same...
hi woody. yes that makes sense. My issue with the surface mounted centrifugal fans is that they are huuuge compared to axial and this room is so tiny that it would look mental!
i found a couple that might do the trick
blauberg calm 125
airflow icon30
they are both mixed flow impellor fans...
I see thanks.
My duct run is about 4.5m and i have extremely limited space to put the fan in the understairs WC so was trying to reduce static pressure as much as possible
I dont have room for any centrifugal fan I could find and an in-line fan would mean i would need to cut an access panel...
Not sure this is the right place for it but thought id try
Installing a pvc rigid duct for an extractor fan and it has to manourver through a small enough void between a support wall and subfloor.
Rather than getting some fittings to try and maneuver it through with 90 degrees or 45 degrees or...
Fair point on the flow now being too concern with the boss so short.
when you say the side with the details do you mean the side that has Marley and produc code etc?
Hi guys,
have this strap on boss 32mm by Marley per the photos. Having watched videos I went looking for the ‘top’ indicator on the boss to make sure it’s right way up but on this it’s not very clear and can’t tell by eye.
is there a fall in this model of adaptor or is something in the...
oh ok so if i wanted an over run timer on the fan it needs a live wire separate from the wall switch for ceiling light? this is very helpful stuff to know when talking to my sparky
Many does not mean everyone and therefore not pointless. Entitled to Your opinion I guess. Iv had success asking both forums with different people engaging.
@winston1 do you have a problem with me posting questions on two completely different websites in an effort to get a broader range of opinions and feedback from different people? trolling me with my own links isnt at all useful.
Hi guys,
im building a new understairs WC and theres never been electrics in that space before. I am of course wiring in a ceiling light and extractor fan under there but would like to know how to 'rough in' the wiring for an electrician to connect later?
I have the basics locked in already in...
I did consider but same difference really. They are only 1 mm thinner than the t and g I have.
will have vertical battens fixed rigid to concrete wall and then horizontal battens for the panelling to fix to
Hi there,
not much to add beyond the question in the thread title other than context
currently building out the stud framework for a new understairs WC (toilet and basin only). Tight for space on the width and trying to claw back every cm I can. We are planning tongue and groove panelling all...
just out of interest, to bring this back to facts about the room.
the room is max 5m3 which means on paper it needs the most minimum powered fan to turnover 3 x the room in an hour @ about 15m3 per hr or 4litres/second
it is just a toilet and a basin so very little moisture to remove (no shower...
So the plan with the understairs toilet would be to have a small flat ceiling where the stairs comes to a point underneath with the wall. This would create a void above to house a fan.
ideally a centrifugal that I could recess as that is presumably easier to access that an inline fan?
Haha very good @Mottie yes mostly number ones but the option be nice without needing to fumigate all downstairs
@winston1 no window unfortunately, party wall with neighbours
can inline fans be installed pretty much at the wc vent or do they have to be in the middle(or close to middle) on the run?
Thanks winston. Was hoping that by posting in a couple places that I would get activity on at least one, but the more the merrier if you can offer any different spin on the topic? Thanks
Hi there,
I was hoping for some help picking extractor fan for an understairs wc I am building.
It’s a max 5m3 room and the duct run needs to be about 4.5-5metres (possibly reducing to rectangular ducting for a section to get through a small void).
Will any axial fans be sufficient for this...
