Vaillant EcoTec 831 Diverter Valve - Can’t replace it?

Update. Vaillant engineer came Monday. Said job was longer than time allocated for a first visit. Partly as screws damaged by prior engineer. A different person came back Wednesday, I am away for 5 nights but wife handled appointment. We now have hot water but still no central heating...

Vaillant EcoTec 831 Diverter Valve - Can’t replace it?

Cheers all. A new brass diverter and repair is probably around £250 so £311 plus fixing anything thing else that comes up, but nil cost if they can't do it, doesn't seem bad to me. I'll post an update.

Vaillant EcoTec 831 Diverter Valve - Can’t replace it?

My independent Gas Registered gas man that works on Vaillant doesn't think it is repairable, this is a effectively a free second opinion (or he was wrong an it is repairable).

Vaillant EcoTec 831 Diverter Valve - Can’t replace it?

The online booking didn't go through, when I dialled up to book I got an offer of fixed price repair at £311.88 payable in 6 instalments that includes all parts (the £285 / £95 if not repairable option excluded expansion vessel & heat exchanger), with a 6 month guarantee or Nil to pay if they...

Vaillant EcoTec 831 Diverter Valve - Can’t replace it?

Hi all. Happy Friday. Our EcoTec 831 is 10 years old. After 4 1/2 years the diverter valve was replaced under warranty as it was leaking. It is leaking again but our engineer (same one through out) has advised it is rusted on. He can’t get the screws out or drill them out and the plate has...

Bathroom with no window - fitters says over-run is optional?

Thanks everyone for the useful feedback, and the entertainment about the rights and wrongs of the nanny state :D . I am going to ask an electrician if this can be fitted rather than changing the fan http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/BGDT20.html

Bathroom with no window - fitters says over-run is optional?

Will check, confident he is registered as had to do some addtional work on the wiring before he would part P it. But Building Control for the bathroom (eg changing location of WC and extending (above ground) the soil stack) would not be the electrician, would it?

Bathroom with no window - fitters says over-run is optional?

Thanks all. The upstairs bathroom is new new. We had a WC upstairs only, which has been removed, new stud partition walls and new WC, sink & bath/shower put in in a different part of upstairs. But if it is not a requirement to have a timer, just a preference, I can’t really make the fitter...

Bathroom with no window - fitters says over-run is optional?

Thanks! Have now been able to find thissection in the F1 document. It will help me discuss who pays to fit the timer if I need to.

Bathroom with no window - fitters says over-run is optional?

Thanks I agree a timer is preferable and will fit one (or a fan with one). But the question is whether it is a requirement?

    Double post please ignore

First a quick thank you to diynot.com for exisitng, my first port of call for any diy issues! We had our downstairs bathroom refurbed successfully, and had the same fitter back to put a new one in upstair. It is in the centre of the house so no windows. A bath with shower, WC & sink, small in...
