    Boarding and bracing?

Here goes: http://www.diynot.com/network/PatsPatter/albums/ If I got it right, that should show them. If not - I'll try again  Alternatively: :D Garage Sun room Note: The Sun room roof will intersect the dormer/roof. We have the trusses...

    Boarding and bracing?

A slight misquote, me old, but also an omission on my part. :( 'Both sets of trusses have a very conveniently sited horizontal up next the ridge....... was the sentence - but I missed out 'member' after 'horizontal', so: 'Both sets of trusses have a very conveniently sited horizontal member...

    Boarding and bracing?

The trusses did come with all the bracing detail. That's not the issue, I'm afraid, 'noseall'. I've built a fully boarded roof before but didn't come up against this level of bracing - 'cos I guess it's my first raised tie, the regs have probably changed (in 15 years) and I was living in...

    Boarding and bracing?

Thanks for the response. Just been on the phone to them again. The sheathing idea seems a bit of a mystery to them and the only info I got was for skew nails to be used but no idea of length, or interval - other than 'board it on the underside'. I have 65, or 75mm ring shanks and my trusty...

    Boarding and bracing?

Morning all. My question is: Do I need the lateral and diagonal/chervon bracing on a roof that is fully boarded with OSB? The new bits being built are a free-standing garage with attic trusses and a sun lounge with raised ties. Just coming to the bit where we have the trusses up and we are...

    Sharp edges and EPDM

Many thanks for that. I've sanded all the sharp edges just in case and got both the water-based and contact glues available. The EPDM is up there held down with battens pinned through the spare material on the facias and bargeboard. It's too cold for the stuff to go flat. It's still showing...

    Re-pointing Thermalite

The house we've just bought was built in the early 70s and I guess they didn't know about the problems with render not bonding to Thermalite. Almost all the plaster is blown. If you push against it, it moves and 'crunches'  I've just knocked the render and skim coats off the...

    Sharp edges and EPDM

Hi Folks Does anyone know the recommended radius to have on the edge of a roof deck in order to prevent an EPDM covering getting punctured, or damaged? There are no projections/slivers of wood sticking up, just quite sharp, square corners and edges. PatsPatter ;-)

    Minimum OSB3 thickness

Thanks guys The suppled roof is T & G spruce - not chipboard, thank heavens - but a bit thin (11mm). A bit of research later and as catlad said, OSB3 T&G only seems to be available in 18mm. I REALLY don't want felt, too many bad memories, so EPDM it is with 9mm WBP, or shuttering ply to top...
