    Laying chipboard.

Hi, I'm starting to lay chipboard flooring in the lounge, should it be tight against the walls or should I leave an expansion gap and seal with expanding foam or something?. Otherwise there would be a howling draught as the space below is very well ventilated. Any advice very welcome.

    Powertools2U

Update on powertools2u. I ordered a Dewalt 27400 site saw at the end of last week, cheapest I could find on the web at £319.99 and it arrived today, a genuine EU saw, plus a "free" Makita HW 101 power washer and a set of 5 Bosch Blue Granite drills. :D Absolutely delighted, and I have no...

    Powertools2U

Has anyone had any dealings with Powertools2U ?. They're doing a Dewalt site saw for 319.99 inc. VAT and delivery, which looks good to me, but I'm a bit wary about these things after my wife had a bad experience with a web ordered washing machine which never materialised!(not from the above...

    Moving the meter.

    Chase Cutting

Google for the Armeg sds+ channelling chisel, available in 2 widths. Use with a good sds+ drill with the rotation stop on. It's really simple and usually causes very little dust. An angle grinder is a hellish thing for channelling, dust everywhere and very difficult to get a uniform depth or...

    De Walt DW712

Sorry for the delay in posting back. This is the ebay item no I was looking at - 320269125002. I also found a DE7023 stand on the web for 89.99 plus 9.99 carriage. In the end my local tool suppliers matched the prices and it has the advantage of local service if ever needed. :D Cheers...

Gap between window frame and brickwork.

We recently bought the house, the windows were done about ten years ago. It was a deal done by Everest for about a dozen remaining tenanted houses owned by a big local employer, they're now being sold off as the factory closed down. All the maintenance work on these houses over the years has...

Gap between window frame and brickwork.

The usual rubbish job of window fitting, the gap is about 50mm wide. It was covered with plastic facing, siliconed to the wallpaper. Should I fill the gap with expanding foam and plaster over?. Any suggestions welcome. There actually seems to be sod all holding the window frame in, I'll have...

    Tripping thermostat.

Thanks all. simond sees the problem, maybe i'm not very good at explaining!. But so far haven't been able to locate a replacement old type thermostat, which worked fine for years. It's a Rayburn used for cooking, hot water, and central heating which is off in summer. If I can't find an old type...
