    Fridges Freezers & RCDs

I think you've got this backwards - I believe the idea of having the freezer on a seperate circuit is so that the freezer keeps going in the event of the RCD tripping while you're out.

    sorry... but toilet seats

The main problem with aiming, completely unappreciated by women, is that the initial shot can go absolutely anywhere. A quick correction is then required, during which some random mess might be made. My observations from growing up in a house with 3 males and 3 females - the women (a) left...

I wonder if they have a policy of invoicing everyone, and blaming "the computer" if people complain?

I'd have been glad of it

    Patch Panels.

Yes. That's unusual though - most people over-cable to allow for extra capacity or awkward office moves.

    Patch Panels.

:P :P That's half way through the installation of that rack. We'd plugged everything back together to allow some Saturday work to take place - the rack now has a door & sides & everything! The door's clear though, so I still redid them neatly :)

    Patch Panels.

This is the best I can find I'm afraid. The patch cables aren't as neat as I'd like :( The network switches are at the very bottom of the rack. The patch panels are next up, and the phone system is just above the patch panels. Blue cables are phone, grey cables are ethernet. Any...

    Patch Panels.

No, they're not. Many panels aren't coloured, and I don't know the reasoning behind the Screwfix colours. I think it's simply to provide an easy way to seperate the ports into blocks. I'll see if I can find a reasonable photo of one of my installations...

    Patch Panels.

Patch panels are simply large numbers of RJ45 sockets. In your example, you'd need a network switch or hub, along with an appropriate router. Typically, you'd plug the LAN port on the router into one of the switch ports, then connect each computer on the LAN to the switch by connecting a...

Thanks; the tack's a brilliant idea! They were fitted before I bought the place, so the gadget's long gone.

    Refitting concealed door closer

I removed a door with a concealed door closer while fitting a carpet. I've rehung the door, but cannot reattach the door closer plate to the door. Is there a trick to holding the spring while screwing the plate to the frame?

repair of data (cat 5) cable

If it is actually being used as an ethernet cable, then simple connector blocks will cause signal loss. If it's cat5 being pressed into service as phone or LV control cable, then choc blocks are fine. To put connectors onto the end of an ethernet cable, you normally need specialised tools...
