    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Well for the some unknown reason overnight they have reduced the price on screwfix by a fair bit... its now down to £9.35 or £8.88 for 5 or more. Bargain! (And I thought prices were all going up @ midnight!)

Loft insulation - what to do about some cables?

Hi all, I am insulating my loft this week and have begun the big job of clearing all of the rubbish and old useless insulation out. I have read that electric cables should not have insulation placed ontop of them - this is obviously very difficult to avoid because many lofts are probably...

    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Thanks for the post. Yes, I realise, they are not having anything power hungry attached, an LCD TV and freeview box is about the most powerful thing. Everything else will be things like the odd lamp or small micro system. That should be fine unless I'm seriously mistaken?

    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Thanks alot. Seems B&Q still do the cheapest back box?

    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Thanks for post. I understand that these arent always ideal, but I am replacing 2 x double sockets both on a very narrow area of wall. Its too narrow for 2 double sockets side by side but one of these should be fine. I see they're a little cheaper on your link but I cant seem to find a back...

    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Thanks alot for your quick and helpful post! I thought that may have been the case, but am prepared to invest the time to get it properly recessed. Last question - anywhere cheaper than B&Q (£3.58 for box, £13.48 socket)? I've looked online but the postage seems to make-up any potential...

    Basic question re. Triple Sockets

Hi all, I only know the basics about electrics but am gradually learning what with alot of reading on here and a book I have at home. I am soon to be decorating the living/dining room and want to replace several of the double wall sockets with triple sockets. I have found the triple socket...

Small glass block project above front door

With a small amount of timber around the edge, the sizes are really close to being ideal. I can fit 4 of these size blocks in the space I have. It wont be load baring, so really I am just looking to getting the blocks even and using something to seal the gaps around and between them, securing...

Small glass block project above front door

Thats a nice job though I am not looking to spend a fortune on my one due to it being a small area. I only need 4 blocks around £7 each from B&Q. Your pictures look very nice. I like the idea of using something other than mortar to secure them but am not sure what is around or what would work.

Small glass block project above front door

Hi all, Hope this is the right section - I wasn't sure. I am planning to remove a broken pane of glass above my front door. I want to replace this glass with a row of 4 glass bricks/blocks to create a feature. The door is not an external door, there are also double glazed external porch...

Where can I replace these handles?

Thanks for those sites. I have looked through and not found anything the right size. I thought this would be simple but it looks like there isnt much around of the size I need.....

Where can I replace these handles?

I want to replace the handles on our cabinets. I have attached pictures and am looking for advice on where to find something that would fit. I am not exactly sure what to even search for. I thought of 'dual fix handles' or something similar? The gap between the centre of each screw is 3.5cm...

    Desk Restoration

Thank you both. I will re read everything and come to a decision very soon! joe-90, as for your valuation of £25 - £30, I cant argue. It may only be 'worth' that in terms of selling it on, but to me its worth more as it is going to be our dining table (albeit with a table cloth on top) so...

    Desk Restoration

OK, I have a week off starting Sunday and I want to get this underway. Here is my plan of action using people's input... 1) Wipe clean surface with damp cloth to remove mould etc that has appeared over winter 2) Remove table top (see brackets in picture) and spray whole frame and parts...
