    Mr Barker on an earlier post you said that if you have checked the gas pressure you shouldn`t really have to check the gas rate. ?? gas pressure has nothing to do with gas rate. Remeber the poor RGI who fitted a brand new flueless gas fire and didn`t gas rate it as thought it would be...

    If you remove the boiler case to effect repair you have to check seal on case after replacing .Have you got relevant equipment to check for spillage/effectiveness of flue. I doubt it .Job for RGI i`m afraid. If you try to diy and you make a mistake someone can get poisoned or even worse.

    poosible gas valve gone faulty and firing up even though no electric supply.Boiler not worth repairing, throw in bin and get good vaillant/worc boiler fitted.

    When a rad starts banging go turn the trv upto the next number or 2 .Does the banging stop? Yes? Ergo, faulty trv or most prob fitted at wrong end of rad.

    The back of these boilers are notorious for perishing due to little leaks where the pipes are connected to the boiler.If there is any signs of corrosion then the boiler could leak dangerous fumes into the room.DO NOT attempt repair if you not corgi registered.You could kill someone.
