    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Ps regarding the proportional pressure setting, I'm afraid I don't know what this means? Are you suggesting I go down to speed 1? Or can the pump be configured to auto adjus?

Unfortunately there is no gate on the return just an aav on flow and manual air vent on return And come to think of it there was loads of spilt solder dried on the old pump housing and pipes If it is indeed solder what is the best course of action here? Would a magnet on the pipe be a...

    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Thanks D_Hailsham i didn't realise the cold feed was isolated. I thought if cold water drawing into the cylinder was then circulated through the boiler but i assume its actually the hot water pumped through the coil which radiates heat into the surrounding tank? I did think about the solder...

sorry the pic of everything is an old pic from around 2 weeks ago - i changed the pump since to the pic in the video! :D

Cheers for the instructions I did a similar procedure but I did 1 floor at a time before checking all at the end. I'm pleased to achieve between 10-15c drop. I was trying to explain I didnt use the pipe coming out the floor. I used the pipe going into the radiator on the radiator side of the...

    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Sorry when i meant fully open i was thinking a 2-3 turns on the lock shield Only the very last radiators are fully open, around 3 turns. I would say 80% of all the rads are below 1 turn. Most of them 1/4 and then the rest in this group 1/2 to 3/4 turn open. I used an IR thermometer...

    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Yes TRV's closing were removed form the equation when balancing There is possibly 1 other radiator which is a double panel large which when i throttle down use to make a crackling noise, this does not have a TRV I can see if it still does it but didn't notice it yesterday. The other rads...

Pump speed 2 - grundfos 15-60 11c diff but a few maybe 4 out of 21 rads are up to 15c. lock shield valves on the noisy ones are a 1/4 of a turn open TRVs are Pegler Terrier II

    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Hi yes they are bi-directional It is indeed the lock-shield valve on the opposite end to the TRV, but the lock-shield valve is the one that gets hottest first and is the flow in. This is also where the noise is. The boiler is an ideal classic FF380 I can only assume that this noise...

    Re-balanced - Radiators clicking

Decided to re-balance after putting in a new pump. This 12 year old house has plenty of inconsistencies, the flow and return are randomly assigned on each radiator. I am wondering why on the radiators where the TRV is on the return, why does the flow valve click? It is not a plasterboard...

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

Thanks Tony He said it needs oversizing I honestly didn't understand where he was coming from. I assume he needed to hit his WB monthly install bonus quota. I don't want to increase my gas consumption i want to decrease it and ensure its "just" the right size to do minus degree ambient...

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

Thanks guys I had an engineer come in and quote 2.5k for a boiler swap power flush etc. WB 30 or something like that. I was hoping to keep this one going as apparently it's much less complex but as you say will need pcb fan and eventually gas valve changing periodically. It's not...

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

I think the infrared thermometer doesn't play well with the pipes even with tape on. They measured 65c flow and 51c return. As the pump measured 80c which is several meatres away I can only assume the true flow is the same.

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

I think we've got some success guys I put the thermostat on max on boiler. As its non modulating I'm assuming it makes no difference to gas consumption, maybe even reduce it as it gets to temp quicker and less cycling wastage. It stayed on for 28mins which is a record. It raised 2c in...

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

Ps it's an unvented system, pressure is sitting at 1.8bar (a little high) and rises to 2.3 bar with heating on. Can't find any air in system. Bled the top radiator after months with ch not being on and then again recently after it had been on a few times and nothing came out. We have an auto...

    Ideal classic ff380 - cycling

Great thanks guys Hot water cylinder does get to temp and boiler stat at 3 seems the lowest I can go to avoid scalding fingers but allow hot water to work. But I see what you mean now, return water will be 52-55, not designed for this boiler. Should I be running it at max? Just...
