    1st floor hallway regs help

Thanks. Yes, most of the documents say should. My assumption is that this is documented for a reason as such that it must be observed in new builds and compromises made in such a case of an old building. However I want to make sure I’m doing it right do avoid costly changes down the road.

    1st floor hallway regs help

Hello. I’m in the midst of finishing off my self build but stumbled across an issue while talking to the staircase contractor. the hallway that adjoins the landing to a bedroom isn’t wide enough I don’t think. It measures 880mm I’m not sure if it should be 900 or 1200. 1200 would cause me a...

    Return Water Temperature Limit valve

Well yeh... completely. Hence the question posted on... wait for it... a DIY forum! I appreciate its not the 100% correct way to do it, a professional may consider a bodge, but also as Gasguru states Danfoss etc sell these so called Return Water Temperature Limit valves. Im unsure its a good...

    Return Water Temperature Limit valve

lol. The CH flow will enter the floor (UFH Pipe) at boiler temp of 80 degrees. I understand that a manifold would normally mix this water with cooler return water using a thermostat. Using a Return Water Temperature Limit valve on the return doesn't prevent the really hot water entering the...

    Return Water Temperature Limit valve

Hello. I have a small (12m2) area of floor to heat and rather than installing a pump/manifold was looking at using a Return Water Temperature Limit valve. However im not sure if this is a good idea as I cant regulate the flow temp as the pipe enters the floor. I understand it should be...

    Room stat on/off and opentherm

Hi All. Ive bought a nest thermostat and was just reading about the opentherm which seems like its much smarter then the dumb on off stuff in that it prevents over shoot of room temp by telling the boiler what temp to cook the water to. Sounds great. However, I have two zones on my system...

Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Quick update. Stuck the pump back in. It span for hot water and when heating was called. symptoms were the same so concluded its not the pump. Removed the plastic valve motor on the diverter valve to take a look. Seemed to move ok on its own. Ordered a new motor and valve. Put it all back...

Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Yeh that one didnt have any terminals in other than the NLE so I thought id just hook it up to the mains to see if it ran. It did but I had to 'start' it myself by rotating the impeller. First job when I get home is to put pump back and check rotation as you suggest. Ill update this around 7 ish.

Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Thanks guys, I understand what you mean now. Thanks for clarifying. So the 15-60 pump that worked only when I spun the impeller was a duff then eh. Ill get it all back together tonight. @Gasguru. Reading the manual it does indeed say the higher speed is used when the water is called. I will...

Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Well not really Gasguru, I took the pump back as per your recommendation not being a two speed this morning and picked up a recon 15-70 on my way back just in case mine is shot. My updates just wanted information on why the old pump wont run outside the boiler? Running a 240v input to the main...

Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Got home, wired up the old pump to a 3pin plug and switched it on. It doesn’t rotate, flicked it and nothing. Just hums. out of curiosity, I’ve done the same with the new one supplied and that does the same. I must be really unlucky
