    Help with completing EIC Please

You're so funny. You really should know more about TLA's yourself, perhaps try TYOS for once, or GFY if you like. IHYSMP now - It's like when I got my first job the TAFLA were everywhere. Someone once said what the hell are you doing I asked you to MACOT and you gave me coffee. I said I've...

    Help with completing EIC Please

No - I'm trying to understand what the forms require for completion. 1. Maximum demand could mean anything, the max rating of the RCD, each MCB, the mains switch, max demand of whole installation, or max demand after diversity? 2. I'm 70% sure that the In rating data they require is the...

    Help with completing EIC Please

Just a few questions regarding the EIC. 1. Particulars of Installation referred to in the certificate. It asks for "maxium demand" kVa or Amps - I am not sure what figure to put here. Is it the rating of the largest MCB or RCD? 2. The "In" rating of the MCB on the test results - Is this...

    Butyl Flex Conductors?

Wiring up a hob in 4mm butyl, and exposed the conductors. They don't appear to be copper - is that normal for this type of flex, as I have never used it before.

Yes - the diagram on the back show 3-phase 5-core as well. Feedback from supplier, who spoke to head office, who spoke to someone technical. "2.5mm is adaquate, but they have had a lot of enquires reagrding this, and in the new set of manuals to be printed they will be stating 4mm."...

    Electric Hob

Yes - they must mean H05RR-F because I have taken a look at an older instruction manual, and it reads H05RR-F with 2.5mm 3 Core. And I can see that, as you state, the CCC is 20A. I'll see if I can take a photo later when I go back there, but there is a silver printed label on the underside...

Do you mean overload current? 433.1.1 (ii) - If so, their stance regarding location not representing a fire risk dispenses with this requirement under 433.3

    Electric Hob

You refer to 433.3 and it seems obvious that a kitchen should present a fire risk, so I have to agree with everything you say, as you have many times more understanding than me, so it got me reading the regs a bit more ... I have also looked at Regulation 434, Protection against Fault Current...

    Electric Hob

I understand that 4mm can carry 36A and hence the reason why this was quoted as an appropriate cable size for the MCB, but the maximum current for the 6.5kW hob is 28A without diversity. I can see for other circuits that carry various loads (ring) the cable may need to carry those loads for...

    Electric Hob

Yes got that, they don't mean minimum, agreed. 1. Does the maximum length referred to in the installation booklet of 2m of the 1.5mm / 2.5mm cable have any beraing on the ability of the cable to take the overcurrent. I understand all the things you say - I just don't like going against the...

    Electric Hob

Oh my god what a freak I am - forgot about those little fuses! BUT is there any merit in any of the other discussions regarding this because the sticker on the HOB says 2.5mm cable, as per manual and the manual for the oven says "A cable of the correct size rating must be used. Cable type...

... and here is another discussion about using 1.5mm on a 30A supply http://community.screwfix.com/thread/53103 "When an oven shares the same circuit as a separate hob they should be regarded as one cooking appliance just as though it were an orthodox stand-alone cooker. Neither are...

    Electric Hob

Ouch - I'm getting a little confused right now, so please help me - can you direct me to the regs about the 4mm cable and 32A, because my initial problem was that the 6.5kW hob yields 28.3A at 230V which is over the CCC of a 2.5mm cable which is 27A (but only just) in normal conditions. I am...

    Electric Hob

... one more thing - I'll be ok with 2.5mm for the Oven (2kw), as the max current for the appliance is 9A, and the CCC is 27A, and 1.45 x 27 = 39A. So Plan B - 2.5mm for Oven and 4mm fort Hob? Sound right?
