    my pump won't turn off

    I had this problem, heating was on continually which is how I noticed and it was the zone valve which had failed. Most have a manual lever as well that you can see move when it switches on and off. try turning the heating/hw on and off making sure that the stats would cause it to work...

    there are two approaches to damp. You either build something that breaths so that moisture moves through the building or you build using materials which are impervious to damp. Old buildings are built using natural materials and breath. So lime mortar (Cement not invented till 1800's)...

    I think that the chimney needs air flow in it regardless. So there should be a vent (although it might not be visible - may be under floor) or the fireplace should be open.

    Just to throw in that you need to allow for the cost of a new hoover since you, no not even you, do not want to be using it again once its been exposed to asbestos. splendid to distribute fine asbestos fibre through your home afterwards.

    If you are on cable then a dsl router won't work - different technologies. There are a couple of routers about that do cable and dsl but not common and not given away with the connection.

    skoda turbo problem

    Turbos are quite reliable on the vag tdi's. Much more common is a maf (mass air flow) sensor failure, worth a go since the maf can be had for under £100 on exchange from the dealer. (on 4 vag tdi's weve owned had 0 turbo probs, 5 mafs failed)
