    Pump removal problem

Didn't at the time but just did and it's not moving freely. Hammer and screwdriver hasn't manage to free up neither top nor bottom nut. Any advance on my suggestion about heating them or is it a non starter?

    Pump removal problem

also, should heating the nut help? and what size nut will I need to buy should I need to cut right through? The pump is a myson compact cp53 and yes, i've read nothing but posts saying how crap they are. Mine's lasted 10 years without complaint though and was fitted by council before I brought...

    Pump removal problem

No joy as yet but have just been having a go at the misterdubya method (didn't try the hack saw bit) so am pleased that I have the right idea and that i'm correct in thinking that the nut should be independent of both the valve and pump. Seems almost fused to the pump. I didn't hammer away too...

    Pump removal problem

Hello all. Woke up this morning to much loud banging coming from the boiler. Following an hour of stopping starting and a process of elimination I realised that the pump was not working. Confirmed after another hour or two of flushing out the system and retrying (thirty odd squid of 2 month...

which is it likely to be?

The last few times i've spent the weekend out i've returned to find an overflow pipe at the front of house which looks to have been dripping for a while. I'm guessing after some deduction the reason is because i'm away and therefore not using any hot or cold water in the house but my question...

    sentinel products

Can anyone confirm whether sentinel x200 boiler descaler is any good. Also is it ok (or worth it ) to add sentinel x200 boiler descaler in a system already containing sentinel x100 inhibitor. i.e would they interfere with each other?

    question on draining

Thanks HD2010. That's what i'd alluded to though seems I can't escape the rad bleed part but that's good enough for me. I guess I could have written the post better expertgasman but if you couldn't be bothered to work out where to start then maybe you shouldn't have bothered to write your...

    question on draining

Well I figured there was good reason for not doing it this way given that i've never seen it offered up as a method. If you could explain what would happen i'd appreciate it though. cheers

    question on draining

Was wondering if it's ok to recyle the water in a system simply by attaching a hose to the last radiator's bleed valve (as I would in a complete drain downl) and opening the bleed valve but without securing the ball valve in the f&e so that the system continues to supply fresh water while...

    blocked radiator

Hopefully it's not that then. I mightn't miss a 1er too much at the mo but I wouldn't think myself experienced enough to fit it and getting it fitted by a pro is no doubt going to add to the cost Cheers

    blocked radiator

Will do in the morning JohnD. What conclusion do I draw if water does come out of the vent pipe whilst the system is on?

    blocked radiator

In case it makes any difference it's the first rad in the circuit. All other rads are hot.

    blocked radiator

Nope but can try in the morning (needed to have some heat in the house tonight or there'd be complaints). I'm thinking it won't make any difference unless you're thinking along the lines of the affect being to increase the pressure to that radiator and hopefully helping to push the blockage...

    blocked radiator

Oh and I should also add that I took the rad out and ran the hose through it until clear so whaat i'm getting at is how to flush out the rad channels.
