Makes sense to me, but I don't know the answer.

He must be a right 'royal' clown too then 8)

I've built my garage over a public sewer

It is live, there is water flowing down it when I lift the lid. I'm not sure if I'm more worried about them knocking my garage down, or what will happen if the sewer collapses from the weight and the whole street has no toiletry for a week

I've built my garage over a public sewer

Sorry, I keep saying that the sewer route is marked on the deeds, but it is actually the search result from the water board, obtained by the solicitor when we bought the place, that shows the route, so it makes it even more 'their fault' I guess. If I had approached them beforehand would...

I've built my garage over a public sewer

Thing is, there is already a brick garage built over it, attached to the main house, been there years for a guess, and our neighbours two story house extension almost goes over it. Looks like there might be a whole lot of knocking down going on if the water board come a visiting.

I've built my garage over a public sewer

I've spent the last six months building a garage in my garden, 6m x 5m, of concrete block and tile. I contacted the counicl to ask what I need to do, such as planning permission, building regs etc. They basically told me I can build wqhat I like. On the property deeds it shows a sewer...

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

Well, the roof has been tiled and complete for about a week now, through some of the most horrendous heavy rain I have seen in years in England, and I have just a couple of slight 'runs' coming down the underfelt on the outside, but nothing at all coming inside the roof area itself. Two of the...

    Neighbour threatening Legal prceedings

Hmmm, how many years does the OPs insurance have to cover the integrity of their neighbours roof for? As mentioned already, it has been watertight for over a year, through a whole winter, but as soon as it starts to leak it is the fault of the new roof? :?

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

All tiles now on, ridge tiles included. I used the Kobar dry ridge system, which seems pretty agricultural to tell the truth. I also mortared the verges. Next thing is to look up the 'rendering' and 'wiring' section of this website :D

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

I'm still in two minds about whether the glass blocks were a good way to have tough windows, with a bit of insulation and minimal expense, or whether they make it look like a public toilet...... Blueprints? I'd have to draw some first mate

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

I cheated, and got a quote, which involved them sending me a blueprint of exactly what they were going to build. 8) It is all 2 x 6 timber, treated and kiln dried. There is just 4' max headroom in the centre, but ample to crawl about in. I plan to buy plastic wheeled boxes for storing stuff...

    Water proofing OSB?

My sister had her kitchen extension refelted and found none of the original chipboard sheets actually met over rafters, just floated in mid air, which caused large odd looking ripples in the felt. She made sure that when the new sheets were put on they were cut properly and nailed down onto the...

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

I just spoke to a guy in the roofing place I bought my tiles from and he said there shouldn't be any leaks with the interlocking tiles I'm using, so my worries might be for nothing. Fingers crossed  Deluks, I built the trusses in place, but if I did it again I'd definitly buy them...

    storage outside

You can go up to 4 metres tall without planning permission, with a pitched roof. I know the regs change from district to district but I'm fairly sure that is the general regulation. My 5 x 6 garage is 4 metre tall and I have a letter from the local council bods telling me it doesn't need...

    Rainwater collection on flat roof

My garage roof is flat, or nearly, as it has tapered strips fitted on top of the main joists so it has maybe 2" of angle/pitch whatever the term, and the water runs off one end. Maybe you could do something like that to yours, depending on how it is built?

    Water proofing OSB?

I guess your shingles are on now, but I thought OSB was fairly waterproof anyway? I've used it on my gable ends, and will cover it with pvc facia eventually. Jewsons told me it was for exterior use.

Underfelt too tight now weather is cold

Evening all, my first post so please be gentle. Anyway, I'm building myself a garage, 5 x 6 metres, with a pitched tiled roof, concrete block walls. I've designed and built it all myself, using the internet and various sources for info. I've not fitted the tiles yet, as I've been away...
