150mm hole - close to the edge

Hi there - thanks replies. It’s a single story extension to a bungalow - pitched roof. It’s only now the kitchen plans have come together and we know where the hob centre line is. I did think about building in a duct but I wasn’t confident enough on location. It’s a bit of a challenge - I’m...

150mm hole - close to the edge

Hi all - after a bit of advice please. I need to core out a 150mm extractor round duct (so 160ish hole). Taking floor height, hob to extractor, etc, etc into account - I’m coming close to the top of my external wall - maybe two courses down. It’s a new soft red wall that non load bearing -...

    Potterton 60E - replacing options

Thanks and noted - that is surprising. I’ll take a closer look at VALLIANT. Probably the ecoTEC plus. Thanks D

    Potterton 60E - replacing options

I think I’m going off the loft idea(s) and leaning toward simplicity of a COMBI. Maybe a VALLIANT or WEISMANN (with stainless heat exchanger) in airing cupboard after present tank comes out.

    Potterton 60E - replacing options

Thank you - that’s helpful to know that 15LPM is insufficient for a MEGAFLO. - I guess that steers me more toward a COMBI where the 15LPM is more tolerable ? - Or could I add an accumulator like a Stuart Turner Mainsboost in loft space ? Thanks D

    Potterton 60E - replacing options

Thank you Mottie - I hadn’t considered that. In my ignorance, I thought ‘System Boiler’ was just the modern phrasing but now I see ‘Heat Only’ is different again. ======================================= In light of Mottie’s post maybe I should reframe my original post questions - I guess I’m...

    Potterton 60E - replacing options

I have trusty Potterton 60E (non condensing 17.58kw) that needs relocating as does the associated feed and expansion tanks in loft. Consensus is that due to age and availability of flue parts, it’s best to replace the boiler and take opportunity to upgrade. The present system works fine...

    Oil based MASTIC; recommendations

Hello - very grateful of some advice please. I need to re-point the mastic between the concrete sections of a pre-fab (Compton) garage. My understanding is that they were installed using ‘BEVAMASTIC’ - an ‘Oil-based general purpose polymer reinforced construction sealant’. This doesn’t seem to...

CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP- A or B

Thank you all for taking time to reply - it has helped. To answer one question above ‘Why does your site plan include………’ I asked the same and was advised (as per Jed’s post) applications should include a red line around all land relating to the application. Also - I think I misunderstood the...

CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP- A or B

Thanks Blup. So looks like you think I need to raise Certificate B. As I’m ‘serving notice’ to same council that I’m applying to - do I really need to do it separately and 21 days in advance. Could I not just attach the notice form to the application with my plans - do it once. I guess the 21...

CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP- A or B

Hi Forum, Grateful of some advice please re my Householder Planning Application. I’m about 90% done using the Planning Portal - it’s not been too bad at all. Then I got to the very last section/ last question - CERTIFICATION. First pass - thought easy; I own it so it’s a simple Certificate A...

Extension - seconded zoned gas boiler

    Thank you all for your advice; it’s been very helpful. I’ve had an attempt at estimating the spare capacity of 60E at 17.58kw. 1x Double 60h x 16w / no fins 1,750 Watts 1x Double 60h x 95w / no fins 1,050 Watts 1x Single 60h x 175w / no fins 1,470 Watts 1x Single 60h x 80w / no fins 735 Watts...

Extension - seconded zoned gas boiler

Thank you - that’s good to know that I have some spare capacity. As a matter of interest, is the second zoned boiler and under floor option just too complicated to be worth the trouble and bother. Best D

Extension - seconded zoned gas boiler

I was thinking one large rad or two smaller ones but I haven’t ruled out an under floor system if that would help. (I thought the 60E was 15kw ?) D

Extension - seconded zoned gas boiler

Thanks Reply. No, I’m afraid I don’t yet have that info just yet. I haven’t progressed the design to that point / level of detail. It’s early days but I’d still like to understand the option space. Best D

Extension - seconded zoned gas boiler

Hi forum; grateful of a steer on my options here. Situation is that I’m adding a single story extension (50m^2) to a fairly old bungalow. The extension will be double glazed on two sides and have a vaulted ceiling. Its a ‘modern build’ so I’m hoping despite the ceiling and large glass area, not...

Bypass radiators (I think) and their Btu

Thanks for reply / advice. Have had a bit of a closer look in airing cupboard. And I also have a bypass (15mm connection between the 22mm supply and returns) as well as the directly plumbed on two rads. So, I guess I’m ok to fit TRVs on these two. Cheers D

Bypass radiators (I think) and their Btu

Hi forum - grateful of some advice please. I have a conventional vented central heating system - fitted from when the house was built some 30 years ago. I want to change the rads in the bathroom and shower room for some nice modern column radiators. I have used an online BTU estimator for the...

Tile Trims - unbranded; any good ?

Hi. Has anyone tried or could recommend somewhere for unbranded tile trim. Looking to buy some polished or milled finish bevelled edge. The usual one or two tile shop brands are expensive so wondered if the online unbranded worth a try. Thanks D.
