    Concrete block compressive strength

No I'm not, PD forestry and agri builds are exempt from building regs. Non PD forestry and agri builds are often not. I assumed people would have known that, or not cared.

    Concrete block compressive strength

Permitted development, forestry/agriculture. The 'scotland' I think refers to building warrant needs in Scotland, but I dont know if that means a minimum Nm rating or similar.

    Concrete block compressive strength

Hello all, I'm building an outhouse, 24ftx12ftx8ft tall, with a pitched roof made of 8x2rafters and 3/4 ply. I'm using concrete blocks for the walls, but I note there are different strength ratings for the ones available. What would be the minimum strength rating I should use? The...

How long would these last ?

That's the preffered option but the site is very unlevel (is that a word?) and getting a digger and materials to it is a big issue :( I was thinking about posts as a temporary and quick fix, then replacing them in situ at a later date.

How long would these last ?

hi Due to some pretty major site levelling and frost heave issues I'm in a tizzy about the foundations for my workshop. I am thinking about sinking some wooden piers/pilings into the ground 2-3 feet. and using them as a support. How does using pressure treated 4x4 timber posts...

Not sure what you mean. There are rules in that you can't wander around someone elses property taking game, rabbits, woodies, deer etc without permission, and rules about how you can do it and when you can do it. But thats all. Nothing to stop you really, just need permission somewhere...

Hire Digger and man to dig foundations price?

This sounds daft but search for digger hire on fleabay, it will give you an idea. Many of them are just a bloke with a digger though.

"can you clarify for us so we know how nature intended" I get it myself direct from the source, and I don't mean the butcher or farmer.

Hire Digger and man to dig foundations price?

Reality check! You will pull levers, hit buttons, pedal etc hundreds or thousands of times in a day. How much faith do you have you will get every one right every single time? That bucket is designed to tear things up remember! I'm being flippant I know, but when you hit the scoop bucket...

Next door neighbour draining surface water into my garden

I'm pretty sure you need planning permission for building drainage like that. By concentrating the water in such a way he is damaging your property. Building regs will alos have something to say about it.

Hire Digger and man to dig foundations price?

I hired a 3 ton digger for digging drainage ditches, was £8 per hour. Easy to get the hang of, hard to use skillfully, and one time out of ten I would just hit the wrong lever by mistake and it would do something completely unexpected and knock a tree over or something e.g. dropping the front...

I now supply meat for me and my family the way nature intended, the stuff in tescos makes me shudder, I dont even like to walk past it now. We also see that cancer of the oesophagus, gullet, bowel, stomach etc is on the rise. I think due to poorer nutrition ? I try to eat a lot better...

Replacing a switch with a dimmer?

Yep. Thats what I thought. The buzzing told me that I had ran out of competence. They keep it a well kept secret! Although, I have single CFL in another room on a dimmer, that is always turned up to max. I have had that for a while with no appararent ill effect. Should I replace that with a...

    12v Winch Amps

It a 900/1000 watt digtal silent type. Great bit of kit. Lovely supply, can run a lap top off it. Thats an idea, but getting a bit involved. Thinks! - I could run a 12v winch off the car I carry the generator around in, Doh!

Replacing a switch with a dimmer?

No ideas. But I replaced 5 x 30 watt normal bulbs with 5 x 7 watt low energy one tonight and the dimmer started buzzing away. Had to go back to normal lightbulbs. If you have a low energy one maybe dimmers need more current to work? I might be talking rubbish.

    12v Winch Amps

Cheers, I thought so, but hoped not. I recall cranking over a V8 Rover P6 for about 20 minutes which wasnt sparking at all and thinking - 'this battery has a heck of a lot of power in it'. I do see 240v winches at 500-1000W, but they are designed for static fixing to ceilings etc not so...

    12v Winch Amps

Hi I'm looking at getting a cheap 12v portable winch. I have seen one - which is not a massively powerful one - that is advertised as drawing 25 amps at 12v. I wanted to run it from my generator which can put out 8.3 amps at 12v. I know these are designed to run from car batteries...
