new business....am i robbing myself blind???

I'd expect any tradesman to charge anything from £100 to £200 a day for their labour, (depending on location, more for further south) then anything else on top of that for parts that you make is better buy the equipment and charge the B & Q price. Your rate worked out at £144 a day which...

    Hoods on downlights

:D However, it also says in the same document in the TTL test section that putting fire hoods or plasterboard covers had little significant effect on the fire resistance rate of up to 30 mins. It must be inferred that with plaster board ceilings with conventional rectangular joints, it is not...

    Hoods on downlights

So if you are going to cut 16 holes in your ceiling IMO you will need hoods. Sorry Pensdown, IMO is not good enough, because other electricians from my area have said in their modest opinions I don't need them. Maybe it is a location thing. My plans say that all electrics should be part P...

I went through this dilemma 3 years ago. It depends on what do want to do work for someone or work for yourself. Insulation in Rafters

I have a small kitchen extension with a pitched roof (6M x 3M). My Building inspector has told me to install 100mm board insulation, in the rafters and 25mm insulation boards across these boards. He also told me that I didn't need to insulate the joists. Having spoken to a few people, they...

Supplimentary bonding where to put earth clamps?

There is nothing in the regs (as I can see) that stresses if they are separated by plastics, what distance of plastics should be used? I could make them a few feet or longer if neccessary

Supplimentary bonding where to put earth clamps?

The sink, bath, toilet should not be a problem as I can hide the cables and straps. All others are installed to the shaver and fan switches. The problem is the towel radiator. I suppose I could get a small earth clamp but the cable and strap notice could be seen.
