Dull question: CH cycling or constant?

You should not have TRV,s on every rad, there should be at least 1 without

    Lost my centre screw

Are these center screws a standard thread size. I have an old pump I was going to bin, but may now remove the bleed screw as a spare?? 8)

    Cold Radiator tried almost everything

I would like to know how the guy at the shop knew there was nothing wrong with your pump just by looking at it. My last pump was running fine, not making a noise and the impellar looked ok. But on very close inspection, I noticed that the impellar had a small amount of scale build up right at...

    temp rise across boiler

As you may have seen from my previous thread, Ive had all sorts of problems with my boiler which i have finally sorted out, however I did in the process, move the burner pressure up and down whilst trying to keep the thing alight. Ive put it back to where it was but was just curious how much...

    temp rise across boiler

What temp differential should I expect to see across my Wickes 50 balanced flue boiler. I think I "may" have inadvertantly moved the pressure regulator nut so I just want to make sure that my boiler is not firing too hard now.

please help Wickes 50 boiler keeps tripping off

please help Wickes 50 boiler keeps tripping off

I have tried the above and left it all night, I am happy the system is air free now. I also shorted out the over heat stat temporarily to see if that was causing the problem but it still tripped out. Surely the only thing that could be causing that to happen now is the pilot thermocouple or...

please help Wickes 50 boiler keeps tripping off

Did not turn any zone valve positions, just turned off the water into the header tank, opened the bottom drain and the rad bleed nipples to drain down the last bit from the rads. Shut it all off, opened up water to header tank, refilled, bled it all ,fired up the boiler and its been tripping...

please help Wickes 50 boiler keeps tripping off

I dont think its blocked because when it runs for 5 minutes or so before tripping, everything gets nice and hot (all the rads in the house and the inlet and outlet of the hot water tank?? Im going to leave the boiler off but with the room stat on overnight so it continues to pump around cold...

central heating with a mind of its own

My central heating started doing a similar thing lately, I have a Digistat 3 programmable thermostat and despite it being set up for different temps, it just decided to make up its own mind about when it was going to come on and how hot it wanted to get. After searching this forum, I found a...

    Re-circulation valve?

Some thoughts: Could turning the pump speed down reduce the build up of pressure and result in less frequent "Blow Offs"? Could some kind of diffuser be fitted to the outlet to silence its Blow Off? Failing that recirculating a small amount of water back to the tank should prevent...

    Humming Noise

You say your neighbour is not being helpful, this is going to be a problem because I reckon you are going to need to carry out all the checks you have done in your house in his house too!! Have you been allowed to enter his house and see if its audible in there? I had a knackered central...

Ah I see, I have 8 rads in my house but only the upstairs 4 have TRV's on them so there is no way I could cut flow completely. Looks like Im OK then. 8)

    Understanding my pipework

The bypass does exactly what it says, but is it a problem if you do not have 1, as I do not on my set up? Cheers Dave.
