Yep it was replaced no more smell of gas :) We have the central heating currently running pressure is showing as 2.2 bar but I can still see the PRV pipe outside dripping very slightly. Should the drip eventually stop, or should I arrange for the PRV to be replaced or alternatively just live...

Apologies if this is a stupid question, why would the smell of gas only be present when the central heating is switched off but not be present when using HW or after the hot tap has been closed?

It layman's terms what does that mean that the gas valve needs replacing or can it be repaired by replacing seals or something?

Pressure is fine, appear to be balanced ok but I do not think that would affect the behaviour of the boiler which is the same as yours i.e quiet when running central heating but very loud when running hot water.
