Can anyone help with wiring question please - wanting to replace light switch

That reminds me of a very lucrative contract I won decades ago on a string of MOD sites. Identifying every back box and then providing every back box with a fly-lead to ensure each box was earthed. The whole thing was a waste of tax payers' money as all the wiring was in continuous metal...

    Nigel Farage tax dodging

There is absolutely nothing illegal with tax efficiency, but tax evasion is a completely different topic.

If the electricity company's neutral gets disconnected at the meter or somewhere outside the house

My supply is from overhead and is polyphase. TP for my workshop and 1ph for my domestic via the star pointed pole mounted tranny, then underground. My domestic loading is negligible so everything is reasonably well balanced. If I lost a phase in my workshop, it would be instantly noticed.

Can anyone help with wiring question please - wanting to replace light switch

Follow the same configurations and as for the earth wires, your new switch will connect to the back box via the unit securing screws, so in reality the earthing can be forgotten.

Lawyers and Legal red tape - this is why our country is fundamentally broken

Too much thin skin in this forum for my liking  Just call me pachyderm and be done with it

Reform will stop the small boats within two weeks ...

Nothing in this world/life lasts forever, so with what has gone before in politics has made my mind up to give Farage at least a chance as nothing could be worse that the chaos we have now, and to say hello to Nige I play one of my long-time favourites from Soft Cell (Marc Almond). Marc has...

Reform will stop the small boats within two weeks ...

Farage has to do absolutely nothing but sit back and watch all the others implode or self-combust.

What is this holding the loo to the waste pipe?

TTBOMK asbestos cement has never been used for soil pipe. What you have there is poorly painted cast iron with the pan-to-pipe joint made with cement. Your chances of removing the pan without breakage is almost zero, so price up for a new WC suite before considering any work.

Lawyers and Legal red tape - this is why our country is fundamentally broken

What bothers me just a tad, is all this talk about having a digital ID as an integral part of curbing illegal migration. How would this work with aged Luddites such as myself who flatly refuses to own and carry one of those highly intrusive smartphones? I have absolutely no need for such an...

    Not enough silicone?

What brand/type of silicone sealant did you use and how close to the 'use-by' date was the tube? There are several types of silicone sealants, including neutral cure, acid cure (acetoxy), and multi-purpose formulations. Each type has specific properties suited for different applications, such...

P trap connection on bath dripping slightly

That could explain the drip. Overtightened by the installer and then it had a slight weep ever since. I never did like those screw-through waste fittings.

P trap connection on bath dripping slightly

Yes it most probably can, but the process will be easier with two people; one up top and t'other underneath(y)

    Another bloody tax dodger

It is up to each individual tax payer to submit their claim/remittance before the due date unless they are snarled up withing the highly intrusive PAYE system. Due to my complicated income as someone well past pensionable age, I am forced so sort out my own tax affairs on behalf of the HMRC. I...
