Tips for drilling into walls with plastic pipes

Hiya, We live in a new build property which has plastic micro bore central heating pipes. I need to drill through a couple of stud walls to run a new ethernet cable to another room. I know detecting plastic pipes is almost impossible, so does anyone have any tips for drilling into the stud...

    Sanity check on boiler wiring

Thanks for the replies guys, although it degenerated into name calling it was still helpful. I see what you mean now about the possibility of reusing a cable and sharing a general live. If I do go ahead and get this installed though, I think I might leave it to a professional. Just out of...

    Sanity check on boiler wiring

Thanks for the replies. The main reason is the thermostat isn't anywhere near the boiler and all the wiring is behind the walls so is a bit more involved. I could of course ditch the wiring at the boiler and fit the relay in the boiler cupboard, blanking off the old thermostat hole. I was just...

    Sanity check on boiler wiring

Sorry but looking at the manual, it just seems to show how to connect it via 2 wires for the stat. But surely I still need a live/neutral to power the actual wireless relay for the thermostat? My problem being I don't seem to have a neutral, only the 2 cables for the stat and a constant live...

    Sanity check on boiler wiring

Please excuse my ignorance, I read a lot of info last night and one of the posts on here said it didn't need a neutral. After rereading they later correct themselves as they were thinking about the battery thermostat cm907 so my mistake for not reading more. I was wondering how this would work...

    Sanity check on boiler wiring

Hiya, I'm thinking of replacing a wireless myson thermostat linked to my logic 35 combi boiler with a honeywell wireless cmt927 The current wiring looks like its been done with 3 core + earth cable and has: Brown constant live (not currently used as battery operated) Earth (marked with...

Front door frame hinge coming away from wall?

Hiya, Our 10 month old composite door looks like its coming away from the frame slightly by the top hinge, but I'm not sure if its just flexing a bit. The gaps only small but it closes if I lift the door by the handle. The hinge screws seem tight. Should I get them back to take a look and fix?

Can someone please tell me what these are?

Yeah I was thinking that, or maybe cutting a small piece of this to insert: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-6mm-Galvanised-Mesh-Panel-600mmx900mm/p/187720 I have some spare wood lying around so will try building a nest for them in the hope they'll favour that :) I don't mind them being...

Can someone please tell me what these are?

Thanks for the replies :) Found out they're actually mason bee's not wasps (do'h). We don't really have a problem as such, seems to be the same couple of bee's wandering from one hole to the next maybe searching for somewhere to nest. I just wanted to prevent any possible problems. I'll have...

Can someone please tell me what these are?

Hiya, Just wondering if someone could tell me what these are? They're every 3-4 bricks along just above the damp course and above every window on our property. I'm asking because I've seen a few wasps buzzing in and out of them so I'm wondering if Its safe for my to partially block them?

    Extending patio

Thanks for the replies. Think we've decided to do a 4x4 square and move some of the current flags around so I'll do the 4x4 with a new base and fix the rest when they get worse (a couple are already a little wobbly after checking)

    Extending patio

Hiya :) We recently moved into a new build house and I'm thinking of trying to tackle extending the small patio area we have as its not quite large enough for a table/chairs. I'd be digging up a small area of lawn for 4 or so flags. I've been reading through this guide...

    New build, few oddities

Sorry, please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area but I'm not sure if you're hinting something's wrong or not?

    New build, few oddities

Ahh yeah I can see it a bit clearer now! Thanks for the reply. Any idea what the little bits sticking up are? Looks like something trapped underneath. I have the roofers coming back to fix a chipped tile so may ask them to replace this one too while they're on the roof.

    New build, few oddities

Hiya. We recently moved into a new build property and I've noticed a couple of odd bits. With all the wind recently, I kept hearing a loud vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv noise (best way i can describe!). I managed to track it down to the roof, and I'm pretty sure its right at the top of the ^. I'm assuming...
