Lining paper versus Painting bare plaster

crj, thanks for your reply. The existing paint is very flat and sheen free. The walls I've stripped look pretty good to me, so for my own purposes I'd be happy to paint without papering and then when it comes to selling it I'd probably want to give it a new coat of paint and if I think it...

Lining paper versus Painting bare plaster

I've just started stripping off the truely awful looking wallpaper I inherited in my new flat. I want to then paint the walls. I just want plain colour, no replacement wallpaper. I also want the flexibility of changing colours, especially when it comes time to sell My initial thought was...

    Woodwork finish: paint or varnish?

I've just moved into a 1890s built flat. The previous owner or one before that started to renovate/redecorate but left lots of jobs half done. One was the woodwork. All the panelled doors were stripped back to the bare wood and then left unfinished so they now have some not so lovely...

Thanks John, that makes sense, someone advised me to do it this way, cant remember why though, maybe because I could wipe off any emulsion drips more easily than I could the oil-based Satinwood

    Paint drying times: Basic Question

Sorry, this is such a basic question. I'm doing my first big painiting project, and I have a basic question about paint drying times. The time given on the tin is the time before you can do a second coat, is this the same time I should wait before painting next to the paint so if I've...

My interior painting plan: Have I missed anything?

Third_Eye, Thanks again 1. I thought Leyland was supposed to be poor quality cheapo paint and not a good choice (I'm very new to this I know nothing, so I'm probably just wrong) 6. I could go measure, but its a typical small hall of a small semi The front door opens onto the a space...
