    Tripping RCD nightly

get a sparky in and discuss the options, he will be able to advise on what you tell him and more importantly what he can see. could be a simple task to convert circuit to high integrity, could be a rcd fault. Either way it will involve more than just advise on here. Sorry

    Tripping RCD nightly

each piece of IT equipment has a functional earth leakage current. May be that with all of that IT a high integrity circuit needs installing.

    Tripping RCD nightly

A pc as mentioned above should not have enough earth leakage to cause a trip. I would suspect you have lots of circuits with leakage and the pc is what is breaking the camels back. This is difficult to locate without the correct test equipment. I would start with conducting a ramp test on your...

    they're 'avin a laugh...

£35,000 for a 36 hour week, 3 weeks holiday and 6 months sick pay. Unfortunatley it was a days/nights rotating shift pattern and my body couldn't take the quick turn arounds so had to look for something that fitted into my body clock.

    PME?

no seals on the fuse so had a peek, neutral is connected into a brass connector block about 1" square and the exit hole for what I would assume to be the PME earth has not been fitted.

    PME?

Its the grey service head like all of the other PME's I have seen. If it was TNS I would expect that the sheath would be visible within the meter cupboard and a soldered/clamped earth connection visible. I am confused by the black 16mm going down the hockey stick from the MET. If it was a TNS...

    PME?

Been to look at a consumer unit replacement and when I checked the service head found the following. PME service head with no 16mm from the neutral link to MET, just the main protective bonds, 6mm earth from MET to fusebox and a 16mm black cable going down the hockey stick to god knows where. No...

    TNS earthing

Does anyone have a picture of what the connection of the sheath to earth cable should look like. I've seen the soldered ones but coming across a lot of BS951 clamps. Been telling the customer to contact the DNO to get sorted is what I have been doing but would like to see how it should be done...

    New kitchen wiring

I know NAPIT do not use this form. Check he is registered on this web site. Ask him who his scheme provider is. To be honest if he wants the job he should be a bit more helpful now, what's it going to be like half way through the job. I would be tempted to get someone else on board...

    New kitchen wiring

You do need to clarify what he is doing and willing to sign off. When I have customers chase in and run in cables I carry out a visual before they are covered. This ensures they are routed correctly, have no junction boxes and has been done to my satisfaction. Then I let the next stage continue...

    Need help

From memory of the 6360 on a Y plan heating system it is as follows. Blue / Neutral to 2, Red / Live to 1 and yellow switched live to 3. I am assuming that the heating programmer is connected by a Fused Connection Unit. If the fuse blows then swap around 1 and 3, replace the fuse and try again...

    Oven / Hob Wiring

If the oven develops a fault you can pull out the oven, switch off the switched fuse connecter and work on the oven. Simples, if it was unswitched you would then be removing fuses, not a problem but a lot easier to switch it off.

    macallister dust extractor

Can someone point me in the right direction of where to purchase 3m of vacuum hose for my dust extractor. No joy with finding a number for macallister and B&Q whose brand it is are of no help. Looks like the henry hose fits but new ones are too short. Needs to be 3m min so looking for a company...

    moving my cooker isolating switch

There is no regulation stating distance from the edge of the hob to the switch, however the Building Regs say 300mm from the edge to the switch and a height of 150mm from the worktop. This is the distances that I apply when doing a kitchen so do not know where the 500mm they say comes from. Hope...

    cooker circuit safe zone

Bit of a numpty question here but its my 1st ever first fix. On the cooker circuit the cooker isolator is 300mm from the edge of the cooker hob. How do you keep within the safe zones when running in the cable from the load side of the isolator to the connector unit which will be mounted behind...
