I think the paper is on the board. I took the paper on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms and it was not plastered. I am going to have the entire upstairs reboarded and reskimmed but as I say the lounge / dinner is a different story! Due to the house already costing me an arm and a leg to...

Paper on ceiling has a slight crack!

Ok my lounge / dininger has paper on the ceiling. It is a textures paper but doesn't look too bad. I note that there is a slight tear in the paper along one of the joists. Having it overboarded is out of the question as we have coving up. Not enough space to have a board. I have looked at...

    Damp patches on the ceiling!

No sorry I only meant if there was a roof leak when taking legal action. Fron the diagram it would appear that there are meant to be roof vents above the water tanks, which there isn't on my house. Do I need to get these installed?

    Damp patches on the ceiling!

WWent in the loft at lunchtime and saw that the small header tank didn't have a lid! I have a bit of plywood which I can cut and wrap in insulation and then a black bin liner. Am I right in thinking this would suffice for a lid? I think the small header tank is to do with the electric shower...

    Damp patches on the ceiling!

I have a damp patch on the ceiling! I investigated the loft space and can see above the header tank in the pitch that water was gathering and dripping onto the floor and coming through to the ceiling of the bedroom. I think it is because of the condensation build up but can't be sure...

    uneven, cracked ceiling!

Thanks guys, No the loft isn't boarded so I can see the joists. I am having a plasterer come round tonight to take a look. Hopefully good news but I suspect not! I presume setting up a frame to screw the borads into would at least ensure a level surface. Will report back. Thanks...

    uneven, cracked ceiling!

Mmm, should I takle the board down and then reboard then? I presume I can screw the board directly into the joists? do I need to leave a gap where it meets the wall? Got a feeling this is going to cost a fortune!
