    Deburr a kitchen tap

The hot tap in the kitchen keeps sticking so that a trickle of water comes out. after a few precision turns, the flow increases. Knowing nothing about plumbing, I took the cartridge to a local plumbing shop, he said the problem isn't with the cartridge (movement is fine, not impacted). The...

    Identifying tap valves

Hi all, I hope that I'm using the right phrase here :) Need to replace the tap valve on a kitchen tap, it's this sort of thing: http://www.shop.lunns.net/washer-valves-43-c.asp Now, I have no idea of the tap manufacturer or anything helpful like that, but I'd like to find out if the...

    500 mb of data

500mb is everything that is not a phone call, SMS, MMS -so streamed movies, youtube, web pages, emails, any data that an app or game will send. If you have wifi at home or work, you can at least minimise your big downloads (eg installing an app directly from the phone) by using this.

Rafter insulation options for a converted loft

Thanks for the feedback mountainwalker, very good points there, and something to consider. For the time being, I'l leave the celotex as it is, maybe paint over it one day

    Sound proofing a wall

When we were boarding out our loft, we built a stud wall against the party wall, and insulated with Wickes general purpose insulation slab: http://www.wickes.co.uk/General-Purpose-Insulation-Slab/invt/161197 It reduces some of the noise, but where joists are hung on the party wall, that...

    500 mb of data

When Mrs Tapir and I were upgrading to smart phones, this was the question I asked, and decided that the only way to find out, was to monitor mobile internet use for a couple of months. Turns out, we both use home and work wifi, so that doesn't come out of our 500mb allowance. Mrs Tapir drives...

Rafter insulation options for a converted loft

No one will be living in it, but the plan is to move my weights up there, and also for Mrs Tapir to use as somewhere to paint/be creative. So in total hours, I'd have thought maximum 4 hours, couple of times a week (if it's weights, then an hour, really)

Rafter insulation options for a converted loft

that's not something I'd thought of; will research the standards, but wont be submitting a BR application. (well, I wasn't planning to do so). afaik (so please correct me), wont the lack of BR approval only be a problem should I come to sell the house? Seeing as we're not moving anywhere, or...

Rafter insulation options for a converted loft

Hi all. We have a nice big loft space, that's been boarded out on top of 9 x 3 joists. There's 2 layers of 150mm fibre glass between the joists, and no vapour barrier. The rooms below are never cold because of the loft void, so I know that the insulation between joists is doing it's job...

IE / Chrome not bringing up web pages

Could be any number of things, but the first thing I think of is taking a look at Tools>>Internet Options>>Connections. Without knowing your exact set up, I can't be specific, but from the menu above, select LAN settings, and ensure that 'automatically detect settings' is checked, and that...

    google chrome cant save picture

I'm using Chrome, and if I mouse over an image, right click, there's the option 'save image as'. The right click menu is split into 2 halves, all image related commands are in the lower half. do you not see this on your install of Chrome?

    Netbooks - Advice wanted

We picked up an Acer Aspire 523h purely for browsing online in the lounge. obviously, it's not an all singing all dancing machine, not at that price. It IS fine for normal web use, you can adapt to the smaller keyboard if you have to spend any amount of time typing. I doubled the RAM (to...

    Garmin website login problem

Maybe try logging in with a different browser, eg if your wife uses IE, try Firefox. If you can't login there, then the problem is more than likely to be with the site, not the PC. Alternatively, if you can login from a different PC, then the problem is with the original PC.

    which version of MS Server?

You don't need a server to stream media, so you can save yourself some money :) What devices are you planning to stream to? You can stream using Windows Media Player, or you may prefer a 3rd party app, such as Twonkey. I've found that a decent amount of RAM helps when streaming files around...
