Dry Lined -> Papered -> Painted Walls - horrible!!

All the walls in my home have been dry lined, then papered and then painted over. This means you can see some bubbles in the walls, and even tears in the paint. Trying to "fix" this results in uneven looking surface when painted. What would you guys/gals suggest to resolve this?

Loft Boards and cable above joists

I bought some loft boards the other day, but am finding cables underneath the mass of insulation that sits above the joists. To stop crushing the cables. I was thinking of cutting small squares (the width of the joist) that I can screw into the joist, then place the boards on top of the...

Walls not plastered - should I get it done?

PBoD. Thanks, you confirmed what I thought. I guess I'll have to stump up the cash at some point and get it done. Just bought this place and getting married this year, so I'm skint at moment :-D

Walls not plastered - should I get it done?

All my walls in my house are basically plasterboard with lining and wall paper over the top then painted. I'm seriously thinking about getting the walls plastered (after removing the paper) as I'm hoping this will give a more professional and sleek look. Just wanted some opinions from the...

All walls papered then painted - yuck!

I bought a 13 year old McAlpine home 2 months ago and have decided that its time to revamp some of the rooms. Unfortunately it seems that every room (including bathroom and kitchen) have had wallpaper put up then painted on. I hate paper as it bubbles and filling and sanding holes then...

Kitchen Cupboard Shelves (wood with white covering)

Hey all, not sure if this is the correct forum, so apologies if it's not. I'm looking to get some more internal shelves for my kitchen cupboards. They are the white coated wooden type that are held by pins inserted into the cupboard interior - so just basic coated wood! Can anyone...

Filling a hole - best way?

This was a good 1cm deep by 3cm by 2cm, I used the filler, pushed it in then applied more and smoothed it off. Will leave it a day and go back and sand it off. Thanks for the advice, will watch roughcasters posts with enjoyment I think :D

Filling a hole - best way?

Hi, just put up some new wall lights in the lounge. The old ones had a large base that covered the large hole where the wires came out. The new one is slightly smaller so you can see the hole at the top and bottom of the base. Should I just use poly-filler and then smooth it up, or is there a...

    christmas tv

I rarely watch TV these days. I get home from work and watch the end of Deal or No Deal (I know I know), watch Hollyoaks with the volume turned down ;) and use it to watch DVDs (superhero/action films and 24). I hate most TV programmes!

    vista or W7

That's not correct. I've got Windows and regularly create documents on my work XP that I load into Vista.

    vista or W7

Vista continually seems to hammer the disk reading or writing on a regular basis - even when nothing is being done and the anti-virus is idle. This causes it to really slow down. Windows 7 from the reviews I have read seems to significantly improve on the performance issues seen in Vista. XP...
