@muggles thank you. I will look into having a go myself as this seems relatively simple. If not I will get the plumber back. Cheers.

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly

Incorrect. That thread was about identifying where the smell was coming from. My last post on that thread was "how do I get this fixed" and the thread died right there. So I have created another without all of the guff, focusing on how to resolve it. Care to contribute positively ?

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly

Ok, we had an unvented cylinder fitted last year and every now and then our en suite would fill up with bad smells. We located this to the pipe that comes out of the unvented cylinder which has a tundish on it. The problem here is that this pipe drains into the sink waste. As a result sewer...

Insululating loft floor - alternatives to Kingspan K103

Nope. Its just that RW3 is a better sound insulator. Its a better grade of the same product - that is all.

    Stairway crack

Easy peasy. Chip out, fill with flexible filler, sand and repaint. alternatively, if its a persistent problem you could always cover it with beading.

Paint bubbling on exterior retaining wall. What can be done?

Did you paint it with a watered down coat first ? if not you should. The last time I used exterior paint (Dulux Weathershield) this is what it suggested for new / unpainted surfaces. Plus, this should really be in the painting and decorating section.

Advice needed on damp proofing and plastering/insulation

Did similar myself in our previous solid walled 1880's house. We removed all internal plaster, had an injection damp proof course done, damp retardant scratch coat on the inside upto 1 meter high and then 50mm insulated plasterboard on the inside of all external walls. Result - toasty house...

    Insulated plasterboard or not?

I intend on doing just that - use Gyproc Thermaline plasterboard on top of Kingspan PIR. The Gyproc stuff is already in place so I have no choice and I plan on temporarily removing it and put in Kingspan between the rafters. Are you suggesting that I need an additional vapour barrier ?

    Insulated plasterboard or not?

Not needed - he has no membrane at all. I will be doing exactly the same job, 50mm PIR with insulated plasterboard. I have no membrane either and I could go with 75mm PIR if I wanted but I am putting in a 25mm airgap anyway.
