Powerflushing is an expensive waste of time in my opinion. I have always always used a cleaner, drained down and rinsed out twice then fill with inhibitor. Is the sound you are hearing kettling ?
My unvented cylinder didn't come with a pump and my system boiler doesn't have a pump either but I do have an external pump that pumps the central heating and the indirect hot water. I dont really understand what you are getting at here.
From what I have seen, no strengthening is required if you use the new lightweight tiles especially designed for this type of thing. They just build a new timber roof structure on top of your existing windows etc.
If its a cavity wall get cavity insulation, if not simply dot and dab insulation backed plasterboard onto the inside of the external wall. I did this using 50mm backed plasterboard to a whole 1880's house a few years back, worked a treat.
My house has no membrane whatsover and has no leaks. I have no plans to put a membrane in either. If you have no leaks then a torn membrane is not an issue.
That is useful thank you. So essence, if I get some timber bolted into the RSJ then that opens up a variety of methods I can use to strap joists to it that are already in situ.
Cheers.
I see what you're asking - No, I cant get under the 3x2s unfortunately - they're busy holding up ceilings that we have no plans to disturb. I cant lose height in the loft or the rooms below either. So as you see I am left with either providing extra support to the existing 3x2s by somehow...
The RSJ to support the purlins will be installed by a competent builder. The floor already exists - its just a matter of taking advantage of the RSJ further by providing extra support for the floor joists. For further clarity, the RSJ will sit across where the joists are at mid span where a loft...
Hi,
As part of my loft room renovations we need an RSJ installing at floor level to support a purlin that has been cut (long story). This RSJ will pretty much sit on the existing floor joists and be supported by brick wall at both ends. This RSJ will be perpendicular to the floor joists so I...
Just bought some 100mm RW3 myself. Pulling spare room floor up in our spare room upstairs for some electrical work and I thought I might as well do this at the same time. We also intend to expose the floor boards by getting rid of carpet etc so want to avoid sound and heat transmission. After...
I am doing the same in my house and after some investigation I have chosen 100mm Rockwool RW3 which I will put under the floorboards upstairs over the weekend :). This is for sound & thermal insulation.
ok, so we have two bedrooms in the loft. The house is quite old (200 yrs) and historically they were maids / servants quarters so the sellers were allowed to sell it with them being called bedrooms. Going by todays standards they are not very habitable (draughty, cold etc) and I want to make...
Correct. You will need a twin impeller pump to pump both hot and cold to a mixer shower. Don't go too mad with the pump though, there's a risk you will run out of hot or cold water before you finish your shower. Running dry on either of these will knacker the pump and give a shock unless your...
Hoping to get a Samsung one in my Xmas box :)
I will be connecting it to the inlet pipe as I would defo want to know if any of our water based systems have sprung a leak (rads, airing cupboard, under sink, fridge etc etc)
We installed insulation (50mm) backed plasterboard to the inside of our solid internal walls using dot and dab. Some of the walls were damp and the old batons had rotted. Lived there for 8 years before moving out - not a single problem. Nice and warm, quiet and no damp. We did remove all of the...
