Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

technically there's more to it than just the colours. Those old 25mm red and black tails have less strands in them - meaning they are hard to bend The modern ones have more strands and are thus more flexible

Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

It's on a old wylex CU at the moment. You can see how the earth's wired in from the pics below.. it seems to be going straight into a terminal?. By the way I know maybe I'm not supposed to take the cover off but I wanted to get an idea as to what I need to get done. I put the labels on - and...

Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

which is why I wrote upgrade in italics I thought 25mm was probably an older standard and the new modern standard is 16mm.Hence all CU's being designed for 16mm earths

Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

No, I did mean what I said. I want to upgrade from 25mm to 16mm. . The earth tail is currently 25mm. My understanding is that the standard for earth tails for domestic installations is 16mm. All the modern CU's are designed to cater for 16mm earth tails and 25mm L&N

Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

A few questions In the pic below, there's a blue cable with a L on it and a brown with a N. I thought Blue was always meant to be Neutral and L for Line. Are they labelled correctly? Who's responsible for upgrading the tails out of the isolator (the red and black ones)? If I want to upgrade...

Boiler water light is on when not drawing water + radiators are warm *VIDEO*

I'll do a more scientific test. My wife may have put the central heating on before - which may have resulted in the warm radiators Its a main eco elite (~6 years old). In the meantime I've turned the DHW knob all the way to the minimum - I believe that turns off pre-heat according to this .

Boiler water light is on when not drawing water + radiators are warm *VIDEO*

The thermostat is off but the radiators are warm. At the boiler the 'tap' light is on but all the taps are off. So there should be no demand for anything.. but the radiators are warm and the tap light is flashing! The hot water pipes are cold so no demand for hot water whatsoever. Any idea what...

Builder Hitting an external gas pipe - causing a leak. Do I have to pay for the repair?

I'm in a bit of a tricky situation now because he's half way through the job and is actually a really nice guy. I think I'll wait for him to finish and then say.. hang on, don't you have public liability insurance? This is exactly the kind of thing it's meant for.

Builder Hitting an external gas pipe - causing a leak. Do I have to pay for the repair?

I've hired a builder to lay a MDPE pipe and he hit a yellow gas pipe (underground) and caused a gas leak. Cadent came out and fixed it on the day. The builder just told me about it now and was asking that we go halves on the cost. I said OK on the phone but with hindsight I'm thinking he is...

is this gas pipe installed to current standards?

@muggles @mattylad by the way I just found this in the meter box.. does this mean the bonding should be inside the house? which is about 3-4 metres away from the box Can I just reposition the bonding to be inside the house? it would be underneath floorboards

    Laying a water supply

Still planning for this.. thinking about how I'm gonna lay the pipe. The run is about 60 metres. So the route requires two 90 degree bends of the 32mm MDPE.. how am I going bend the MDPE? Or for that matter how am I gonna straighten it? It's on a coil at the moment and looks pretty tough! I've...
