Moss on concrete garage roof - clean and coat, or not?

Thanks. There seem to be mixed opinions on whether cleaning will help prolong the roof's life or cause more problems - e.g. https://www.aic.org.uk/asbestos-cement-faqs/ https://welshbuilds.co.uk/2018/11/05/i-have-an-asbestos-cement-garage-roof-what-shall-i-do/ Wondering whether to try applying...

Moss on concrete garage roof - clean and coat, or not?

Thanks! What makes me cautious about this is reports of problems in strong wind - I live in a very windy spot....

Moss on concrete garage roof - clean and coat, or not?

Thanks for the replies. The weathering/moss isn't something to worry about, then? I thought power washing was recommended against nowadays (in case it causes damage or stirs up dust)?

Moss on concrete garage roof - clean and coat, or not?

I've not long bought a house with an asbestos concrete garage roof. This isn't leaking or anything, and I'm hoping not to replace any time soon. It does have quite a bit of moss etc. growing on it, though. I'm trying to decide whether this is best cleaned and coated with acrypol or left as is -...

    Crack in wall/ceiling

The house was built in the 1930s. Tapping a long the crack, part sounds hollow and most just sounds like the rest of the wall (it's a long crack!)

    Crack in wall/ceiling

I've noticed a crack which runs from the ceiling, then across a bit, then a good way down the wall - see photo. This is on an exterior wall, with no sign of damage outside. It has definitely been there at least a month and a half, but I don't know if it has been there for much longer. It's a...

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

Doh - I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! And that should hold it ok?

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

Thanks - so use the cable tie to secure the white flex to part of the fitting above?

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

Thanks - well spotted! So i'd wrap a cable tie around the brown and blue wires to help take the weight? Any downsides with doing this? I think I'd struggle to replace the fitting myself, but just likely to be £40-ish to get a local electrician in...

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

This is under the cover. Unless I'm missing something, there aren't hooks here?

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

Thanks. I can switch off the power at the fuse box then unscrew the rose. Doing this (and, if needs-be, hooking the cores) is ok to do without any special kit?

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

I don't have a cable tie. Might have masking tape somewhere...

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

Thanks. I'll take a proper look in the daytime tomorrow Am I best taking the light shade off in the meantime? Fwiw, it replaced a heavier shade which I'd guess was there for years...

Wires showing at top of ceiling light fitting

When I was putting a light shade up, I noticed the blue and brown wire at the base of the light fitting are exposed. Is this anything to worry about? And how would I fix it? Thanks!

Two red gate valves in garage, no hot water

Tightening the nut on the gate valve seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the replies!

Two red gate valves in garage, no hot water

Yep - it's a detached garage. Taps in the house work fine

Two red gate valves in garage, no hot water

Thanks. I'll have to check tomorrow (not moved in yet) but think the hot water is coming from the house - where there's a gas boiler. Or, at least, is meant to be!

Two red gate valves in garage, no hot water

I've moved into a house with two red gate valves in the garage (see photo). The stopcock is open and cold water runs fine. No hot water, though. I've tried opening both of the gate valves, but there's still no hot water out of the tap (if I open the lever valve on the washing machine pipe for...
