    Cast iron radiator connectors

Thanks all. These are quite chunky - some photos below. Although I’m still not sure which bit is to be replaced when you refer to the tail. Here are some photos giving some scale.

    Cast iron radiator connectors

Thanks, any idea on what thread size it will be on each radiator or is there a choice of a lot?!

    Cast iron radiator connectors

Hi all. I need to find some connectors for these radiators to be able to connect to some normal size copper pipework. Can anyone give me any hints on the size I should be looking for? Thanks Stuart

Honeywell 2 poet zone valve wiring

I’m wanting to wire a Honeywell 2 port zone valve up to a simple on/ off switch using a timer, I.e. live/ neutral and earth. Which colours will power the motor to open the valve? I presume it doesn’t need power to close the valve. Thanks.

Boiler pressure top up and random firing up

Thanks. Sorry, didn’t explain myself well. There’s only water coming out when I turn the tap of the filling hose on. It doesn’t come out what I now know is a non return valve. It looks as though it can be twisted perhaps?! Is that not the case?

Boiler pressure top up and random firing up

Thanks. That’s great and was a quick fix. In terms of pressuring it up... changing the handle doesn’t seem to add water in. Do I need to do something with the other end of the filling loop?!

Boiler pressure top up and random firing up

Thank you. I had tried that with the lever but it doesn’t seem to fill. If I remove the filling loop it is under pressure so I can’t understand why it won’t pressurise the system. is the disabling on the pre heat relatively simple?

Boiler pressure top up and random firing up

Hi, just recently moved into a new house that has this boiler in. The pressure seems low and I’d like to top up. The flexi hose and tap doesn’t seem to fill the system. Do I need to do something the other end of it? Also, the boiler randomly fires every few hours... is this normal? Possibly...

Options for brick fireplace opening/ chimney. Maybe gas

Thanks. Very helpful. Although what does SF stand for? Stainless Flue?

Options for brick fireplace opening/ chimney. Maybe gas

Thanks and agreed regarding the existing not being suitable. When you say about the back panel, do you mean over the bricks? Chimney is on the party wall, so not an outside wall. Could a gas stove be installed without having to drop a liner down the chimney? Would be good to utilise the...

Options for brick fireplace opening/ chimney. Maybe gas

I’m about to buy a new house where the current gas fire needs replacing. I’m considering either an open fire, gas stove or multifuel stove. The chimney is not currently lined and I’d prefer not to have to put a liner in if it’s in good enough condition. I will get a Hetas engineer around in...

Dripping Bristan tap from nut - Allen key?!

I've tried a large selection of allen keys anyway... propbably metric and imperial! Definitely not splined either.

Dripping Bristan tap from nut - Allen key?!

Hi Andrew, I think it has a rubber one... maybe I should try a fibre one if that is what is is meant to have? Difficult to explain, but it's almost like the weep is coming from the wrong side of the nut on the taps which is why I thought of tightening the actual body of the tap etc.
