How do you do your tile trims?

In my case, I need as much tile as I can get in the window reveal, so I used the beading with the flat/flange on the front, which allows me just a little more tile ''. As long as you do them all the same, I guess it doesn't matter - until someone here tells us the proper way ;)

    Which 'Grab' for tiling ?

Hi, I tried to do a bit of tiling in my kitchen. All was well till I wanted to stick ceramic tiles under the window reveal ! My usual adhesive has been great so far, but doesn’t go off fast enough for underneath/s. I’m assuming you lads use one of the ‘grabs’. If so, which one ? I used a...

    Best wood glues now?

J&K: What makes the 528 better than original please ? UPDATE: Well, Uhu wood glue won’t stick melamine. Toolstation D4 won’t stick melamine. Evo stick won’t stick melamine. Gorilla say, they don’t do anything to stick melamine, nor do Bostick. Bostick also said, “I suspect this is a one...

    Brother QL-560 printer case opening

Hi guys, Hope you are all keeping well. My printer roll reached it's end yesterday, and the tight wrapped lables were coming unstuck. It caught on bits of roller/guide etc, and left bits of sticky label on the bed under the roller. 'Dead easy' thought I. I'll just whip the roller out, clean the...

    Best wood glues now?

Right guys, Next one, which glue sticks melamine ? I tried Uhu exterior, and TS D4, fully clamped, and after 4 cabinets, when I took the clamps off, the top wasn't stuck ! (I gotta check the other 3 now,,,,, and 12 drawers !?>) I am sticking wood to wood, wood to melamine and melamine to...

    Best wood glues now?

what a fool,,,,,,,,,,,, I meant Resin 'W', but couldn't count as high as W ! I used it since it came out - I think it was in the late 60's. I don't think there was a choice - just Resin 'w'. Exterior came out a bit after. I've ordered a 1lt D4 pva to try. Well I say "try", I already know...

    Best wood glues now?

ah,,,, Justin Time, I was about to order one from Screwfix, along with a couple of others. I realise that this might seem like a very basic question to a lot of experts out there. Years, and years ago, I used to swear by Evo-stik and then onto Exterior Evo-stik. I was thinking that things...

    Best wood glues now?

A fabulous and informative reply to an endless question - thank you. Like most things, I don't usually go on what's 'on the tin' (or for that matter, many so called 'reviews' on sellers sites). I'd rather ask people in the know, that use things all the time - hence my visit here. I realise...

    Best wood glues now?

Hi guys, What are the best wood glues currently? What is the best exterior wood glue? What is the fastest setting wood glue? Also, what's the best 'superglue'? I still haven't found anything close to 'super'. Hope you are all keeping well.

    LED vs Bulbs in Torches

Thanks guys, a lot to consider there. B-A-S: Yep - I did like the look of the baton one - ideal for keeping in the car etc. DaveHerns: Where did you find the battery for this item ? Mine is the big yellow one, with inverter etc. Is your replacement the exact same physical size and Ah. or...

    LED vs Bulbs in Torches

Pete 50: Yep, I knew that, but even in factual programs, say inside a a cave, the beams are so much better than i've ever seen. Ban-all-sheds: thanks for the links - they will certainly help. The old lantern packed up in the end. Well, the battery went. New ones (if you can find 'em), are...

    LED vs Bulbs in Torches

Hi all, I'm due to buy a couple of torches. I need to replace my crappy Blackspur (I eventually learned) 1000000 candle with normal bulb. Also a smallish 'pocket' torch & something mid-size. I know this isn't right, but when we see torches on films etc, they are terrrrific. As the title...

dc plug sizes on power adapters

Ah,,,,, thanks for that. I forgot to add the micrometre shots, but now, I can see it wouldn't help - but I'll add them anyway, to help my quest, and any other readers.

dc plug sizes on power adapters

Hi, I have a couple of power adapters. I thought they had 2.1mm dc plugs (or maybe 2.5) dia. I have measured them on a micrometre but they are actually 3.3 & 3.7. Are these dc plug measurements supposed to be accurate,,,,,,, or are 2.1/2.5 ones always bigger than ‘sold as’ ? The 5.5 ones...

What are the 'new' Domestic 12vdc Transformer / power suppliers called ?

The lamp is a normal G4 (I have also imported some other types to try - SMC - COB etc,,,) The original transformer states: AB-4812167 : 50Hz : 12V ~ 1.67A : 20VA. I think it's a common size. I'm putting off replacing my other transformers for now. They all came with their own equipment, so...

What are the 'new' Domestic 12vdc Transformer / power suppliers called ?

Thanks guys - yes, it was the 'switched mode' things I was thinking about. But now i've read these messages, maybe I'll need to do some research before changing them all. I was obviously misinformed before (not by a salesperson, so they had nothing to gain). My immediate quest is to replace a...

What are the 'new' Domestic 12vdc Transformer / power suppliers called ?

Hi, A long time ago, the old transformers used to burn out regularly, as they were left on 24/7 to power things (even though they'd been turned off). You can tell the 'old' ones, because they are heavy (metals & windings etc), but the newer ones are a lot lighter, and don't burn out so easily...

    Best 'type' of screws for,,,,,,

Thank you all for your input. Foxhole & big-all: I'm sorry guys, I don't agree with your comments. If I want to do the job, then it isn't a pointless exercise. The point of using the best type of screws for the job, was to help eliminate the bottom ripping off he bracket. I do appreciate your...
