    Connecting multiple TV arial cables.

It goes outside the house and then through the porch doorframe and then into a splitter which feeds the upstairs and downstairs, so the upstairs doesn't have a signal from the digibox. It just has a feed from outside.

    Connecting multiple TV arial cables.

Hmmm, the wireless option does sound awfully tempting! It would save a lot of hassle and mean I could move the tellys around if needed. Does anyone have any experience with a good system? ie post a few names/links/distributors?

Would this pass inspection? - Part II

Securespark - I suppose it would be a lot easier to wire the lights with flex, but at the time I only had cable. I used that to save time and money, but next time I'll use flex...it's a lot easier to wire up! Also, it's not commercial, it's in my living room. :D Damocles - As you said, it...

Would this pass inspection? - Part II

Andrew, I have done a bit of scribbling over the pic again! The choc block with the earth is linked, it's looped on the left hand side, but the loop is hidden by the red/black wires above it. They are also linked all the way through to the earth that is present in the ceiling. (I've put some...

    Connecting multiple TV arial cables.

I am planning re-routing my arial straight into my digi box and then have separate cables going out to the lounge, kitchen and bedrooms. This way I can get digi TV on all the tellies. I really don't want to use the junction type adaptor that you can buy in the shops, because it is going to be...

Would this pass inspection? - Part II

Right you lot, after a couple of hours and severly sore arms from working overhead :( , I have revised the junction box in my ceiling space and sorted out all the earth issues. Please take a peek: The wires are all trimmed back, every single wire is now connected to earth and is sleeved...

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

Like I said, I'm not a sparky. I know the basics but don't know everything. I'll put it right and learn from it.

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

Ok, thanks for the comments guys. The black wire BTW is the earth from the existing wiring. I didn't have any cable the right colour so I used black! I'll do a little remedial work this weekend. I'll connect the earth on all the wires going to the lights and put some earth sleeving over...

Redecorating the lounge - slightly differently!

Yes, one of the big advantages of removable tiles :D

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

Paul, I just wanted to play it safe. I wanted to either get a sparky to check what I have done or the inspector. I'd rather be safe than sorry! Jerry, I have only run an earth to the light switches, the downlighters don't need an earth. Ban-all-sheds, as the box is from a central heating...

Redecorating the lounge - slightly differently!

Adam, I would never even attempt plastering myself. I have done a fair bit of taping and jointing, but never plastering! I had a friend of a friend do it and he did a great job. As for the speakers, I'll lay them on the back of the ceiling tiles. If they do rattle I will cut a hole through...

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

When I bought the box it came with interconnectors that had exactly the same radius :? (ie connecting from one block directly to its neighbour) The rest of the things I'll sort out asap, thanks for the help!

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

I forgot to add that all the metal backboxes in the wall for the switches have been earthed from the existing earth as well. Oh, how do I work out what rating I need for a dimmer switch to power 7 X 50W halogens? I have forgotten the formula

Will this pass an inspection by the building inspector?

I've just rewired my living room lights, and seeing as I don't have any formal training in wiring (although I think I'm pretty competant) I'd just like some input from you guys so that when I call the inspector in he doesn't laugh at me and tell me to rip it all out :D ) The general idea is 4...

Redecorating the lounge - slightly differently!

After a hectic weekend, I had the plastering done and fitted some of the downlighters. Just got to wait for it to dry and then apply a mist coat. I think the most taxing thing after that is to settle for a final colour that both the missus and me are happy with :D

    New Bathroom

Wow, thats a big job for a first time DIY'er! I did my own bathroom, ripped everything out, extended into the second bedroom (sounds like what you are doing) and then refitted everything. It took me weeks of work, probably 2 or 3 weeks of solid graft! If you can't do plumbing or electrics...

Redecorating the lounge - slightly differently!

Well, the reason I formed an aperture in front of the radiator was to put a removable panel on. (It'll be bigger than the hole and hook on using gravity battens or similar) I have also left enough space down the sides to get to the valves etc. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to pop into...

    Blown Plaster on the Walls

Slightly off subject, I found someone in Slough who did my mother-in-law's whole living room for £120. (Weekend work) He's doing my living room next weekend  Drop me a pm if you want his number!

gutter guard - is it worth it?

I've got loads of trees around my house and the amount of crap that gathers in the gutters is unbelievable. It doesn't wash down and just builds up until the gutters overflow! I would certainly recommend the mesh if you have lots of trees!
