    choosing a new combi boiler

thanks, as long I don't have to give up on the idea! - the fortic tank idea was to keep our existing boiler (not a combi), remove the hot water cylinder from the bathroom to fit in a bath (my aim) and swap out the cold water tank for the fortic - almost everything with a cold feed is mains fed...

    choosing a new combi boiler

Hi, Just wanted to check, swbjackson wrote: As a minimum you are going to need the flow rate that the combi requires to provide you with hot water plus that required for cold. i would not be happy fitting a combi in a property with less than 30l/min available at the cold main. Even this...

combined hot & cold water tank

Its gas, I have looked at a combi boiler but money is an issue! I'm really looking for the cheapest possible way to get rid or or move the tank to get a bath in. I'll take a look at the instantaneous gas fired water heater now! Thanks

combined hot & cold water tank

I've just had a quick look, these all seem huge! can you get small tanks? I only really need to fill a bath. I guess this and the fortic are the only options for mains fed? This is not something I know too much about.... Thanks

combined hot & cold water tank

just wanted to check, it doesn't sound likely but can you feed an immersion heater from mains water? The water tank currently feeds the immersion only, everything else is mains fed. If not I'll have to stick with the fortic idea. Thanks

electrical training - not sure if this the correct section!

Hi, not sure if this is in the right section. I completed the c&g 236 part 1 a good few years ago now, under the 16th edition. I am hoping to complete my training while keeping the full time job I have now (nothing to do with electrics). I did hear that you can now train in an...

combined hot & cold water tank

Hi, I need to remove the hot water cylinder from our bathroom to make room for a bath, currently we only have a shower. The problem is that being in a bungalow the hot water tank cannot be positioned anywhere else and be below the level of the cold water tank. I had heard that you can get...

wiring up a pir for outside lights

Sorry you confused me a bit then! yes the live feed will come from an existing rose, there are currently 6 on the circuit. My intention is to link to live feed through the switch as normal, then back to the JB, then link through to the pir as a secondary switch before going out to the lights...

    choosing a new combi boiler

Ah, got me thinking now, I have a spare shower I picked up which is cold feed only - so the shower is not an issue. We do share our water supply with my sister who is in an annex. The pressure drops obviously when she is using water and I don't think the pressure is too good anyway. Is...

can I wire to an existing rose? would that mean using an existing room switch?

wiring up a pir for outside lights

The loft is accessible quite easily, I mean I would mount the JB next to the nearest ceiling rose, would that be ok? Do you think it would be a good idea to have a standard switch included as an override to get round the issue of staying on?

wiring up a pir for outside lights

Hi, I'm hoping to wire up a couple of bulkheads to a pir sensor on the front of my bungalow. Just a couple of questions: Can I wire these onto the existing lighting circuit? easy to do as its all on one level and in the circuit, does the pir just take the place of the switch? so I can...

    choosing a new combi boiler

Evening, sorry if this is widely available on the forum but I have not been able to find it! I live in a bungalow with a small bathroom, my wife is pressuring me to put a bath in as currently we only have a shower. The only way I can swap this shower for a bath is to remove the hot water...

I've got a quick question to throw in here, I completed the c&g236 part 1 some years ago (16th edition) Is that worth anything now? How would I now complete the course - I didnt complete part 2 at the the time as I got into comms cabling and never went back!
