    fernox in a sealed system

I'm replacing some leaky valves on our CH system. It's a pressurised system (no header tank, big orange vessel by boiler). Can I use Fernox MB1 when I refill, or is there a more suitable product ?

    Turning off a ring main

when you say radial do you mean run cable from fusebox to office switch and from there : 1. go socket to socket to socket and back to switch or 2. go to each socket separately (switch to socket A, switch to socket B, switch to socket C etc) Can I run two cables from the same...

    Turning off a ring main

I'm refitting a room to use as an office and I'd like to be able to turn a lot of stuff off with a single wall switch rather than scrabble around under the desk. I'm going to put the office on a separate circuit breaker in the consumer unit and once the cable gets to the office I will split...

Netgear router-what type of connection does the aerial have?

A friend of mine has a 6 floor guest house and I fitted one of these routers on the second floor. there wasn't a useable signal on the top floor so I put a 9db gain antenna on it (I forget where I bought it, I just googled IIRC) and it is now ok all over the house. It looks a bit unsightly...

    shed base dry mix

I've levelled an area of garden ready for a 6x4 shed which I intend to set onto paving slabs. The slabs will be set onto a 2 inch dry mix of sand & cement. What type of sand should I use though ? Also, how much is in a "jumbo bag" like...

    mini diggers

Will a mini-digger go down a fairly shallow set of steps down the side of my house ? I'd estimate the angle of them to be 20-30 degrees, nowhere near as steep as an internal staircase. (If not, where can I bulk buy anabolic steroids)

    Pen Drives / Memory Sticks

Use pen drives by all means (good quality though NOT cheapo ebay ones) but also get an external hard drive, £50 or less. do a full backup to that once a week and keep it off site.

    1964 soffit

My parent's house was built in 1964, is it likely to have asbestos soffits ? Some years ago, before I knew better, I drilled a couple of holes in it to get a tv aerial cable through; I wasn't underneath it, I leaned out of the gap between the window and the frame and the dust just dropped...

    drayton TRV4 leaking

I have 8 radiators with Drayton TRV4s which were fitted in 2002; At least 5 of them are leaking very slightly. A couple of them leak when they are adjusted but then seal up again, another couple show evidence of leaks but feel dry and one is almost permenantly leaking (very slightly and it...

    Upgrading to Vista from XP

My neice bought a new PC, an acer machine with Vista on it. After a few days she begged me to "upgrade" her to XP like her dad's machine. I asked why and she said "there's just so much I can't do". Turns out her USB wifi adaptor wasn't supported, neither was her printer. The Machine was also...

Wireless phone line for use with Sky TV

do you intend to use any of the on demand services/competitions etc. ? I don't and unplugged my sky+ box as soon as the bloke was out the door. I've had no problems although technically, according to the contract you are supposed to leave it connected. I'd just run an extension cable for...

Telephone Voice crackling and busy tone when dialling in

    1. Remove all the internal wiring from the nte5 front plate. 2. reconnect it a bit at a time and test after each. I'd guess that you've either got a damp cable or, more likely, a damp socket - do you have a dog or cat (they sometimes develop a penchant for ****ing on sockets.)

    DATA D:

You dont have to put it all on there individually, you can bulk copy it. Also, yu only want to put your documents on there, not all the program files and windows files. Open up a dos box (start>run, type cmd , press enter) then enter the following (pressing enter after each line)...

    DATA D:

Sounds like the drive has been partitioned into two (It's what I do when I build a PC). The intention would be to use C: for programs and D: for data. You should just be able to write to it, same as the C: drive.
