That's the idea. I hadn't thought of the heating/cracking issue. I'll channel it deeper and put a bit of plasterboard on top :D

I'm thinking of fitting a small balcony to the second floor of my house (the lounge is up there). Is it possible to fix it to the house without having legs going down into the ground ? If not, will 15 foot legs be too long ?
