There is old metal electrical conduit throughout the house, could it be an old outdoor electrical conduit?

Hi, Recently moved into a 40s bungalow. There is an exterior metal pipe which comes out of the ground, up the side of the wall, takes a 90degree turn, then ends in front of the kitchen window with a spigot. See attached photo (sorry for quality). I want to remove it, but any ideas what it was...

I would need to get the saw blade as close as possible to the cabinet side walls - are reciprocating saw blades able to flex enough for that?
