Would a flue extension work on my boiler?

When I had my boiler serviced I was told it failed as the flue outlet is too close to my conservatory. Is it easy enough to get a flue extension attached to the wall, and then out away from the guttering/roof? - gutter sticks out from wall about 20 cms. The outlet is about 40+ cms from the...

Window frame gap needs closing - what's the best way?

Thanks. I plan to take the window out and properly fix the frame to the wall before replacing the pane.

Window frame gap needs closing - what's the best way?

I've a window with a gap around the frame in one corner - it measures about 1 ft x 1.5ft. It's pushed out on the outside too, so there's a draft. Can I just use strong glue and push the frame back in, or would that put pressure on the window pane and risk cracking it over time? Any other...

Replace Drayton with Nest - wiring?

Your wiring does look a bit different, and I don't know if it is compatible. Hopefully someone here will know what type of setup you've got

Replace Drayton with Nest - wiring?

So, a bit of a story with getting this sorted. Due to my property having some wiring issues I didn't want to try install it myself straight away. I tried to get a Nest Pro to install it, but didn't hear back, so I asked my electrician to do it while he was visiting sorting out my consumer unit...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

Thank you all, for your help. I'm glad I came here for advice. I've left a message for the company owner (who gave me the report) so that he is aware the problem is solved by sorting the consumer unit - I'm sure he can figure out his electrician didn't do the job properly. I'll just not use them...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

Problem solved. Different electrician checked the consumer unit and put the wires back as they should have been, and now the socket circuits are not joined. Unbelievable my first electricians was suggesting the property probably needs a rewire when the issue was, as many on the forum suggested...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

Yes, this is a socket that had a burning smell and turned out the black wires were not connected well and electricity arching. It's (I think) where an additional 2 to 4 double sockets in the kitchen are connected. They've been running a washing machine, dish washer and cooker. I'm not currently...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

Just the power shower. The shower circuit looks like it provides electricity to the double socket close to the consumer unit and nothing else. That socket is not on the sockets circuit.

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

The electrician didn't disconnect any wires in the consumer unit from what I remember, but used a meter to measure voltage or current between various sockets and the consumer unit. The only things he told me he found that I remember was that the shower circuit didn't power the shower, the garage...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

The electrician did have the front off the consumer unit and did some testing between different wall sockets and the consumer unit. I spoke with the company today, and they have said next step would be for electrician and apprentice to spend 3 or 4 hours going through all the wiring and testing...

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

Thanks for the replies. The consumer unit was checked over by the electrician and he thought it was okay. I don't know much about wiring so I can't really do more than what I've done. I'll try a different electrician for another go.

    Socket circuits joined togther... somewhere

I recently bought a house, and an electrician has been round and found that both wall socket circuits are joined somewhere, meaning that when one is off at the consumer unit, all sockets are still getting power. They have said that all sockets in the house will need to be removed and tested to...

Replace Drayton with Nest - wiring?

I'm not sure what pump there is in the loft, but the system looks like It works like a Y plan, though there are two wires to neutral and two to live, which I don't see on some examples online.
