    Sealant smears on UPVC windows.

Is there a product to help remove sealant smears from the frames of white UPVC windows? I am reluctant to try scrapping it off in case I scratch the frames & leave an even more prominent mark!

    Mould on grout?

Cheers for the advice - I should be able to call in a favour from a mate to get the wiring sorted on the fan. Would going over the grout lines with a grout pen be a start at getting the tiles to look a bit better? Before I crack on with re-painting the walls above the tiles.

    Built in wardrobe

I went around loads of furniture shops & outlets picking up as many brochures detailing built-in wardrobes as I could. I then took the various designs & layouts than I liked & put them together to come up with a design that gave me the storage I needed & fitted into space I had. Most of the...

    Mould on grout?

Yes but it only works when you have the bathroom light on!

    Mould on grout?

The tiles on the walls around my shower have started to get unsightly mould appearing along the grout lines. What can I do to remove this & prevent it from happening again? The bathroom walls were tilled three-quarters of the way up the wall by the previous owner - I fitted the shower at the...

    Boarding a loft for beginners

It is currently in a walk in storage area off my bedroom. But I intend to move it to above the landing at the top of the stairs in my flat*. * I live in the 1st floor flat of a coverted terrace house.

    Boarding a loft for beginners

As quickly as possible - but I have not really thought that far ahead. I am assuming that I would need a means of escape from the loft in the event of a fire below. I live in a 1st floor flat & I assume my current means of escape would be through a 1st floor window if my stairs was blocked...

    Boarding a loft for beginners

A very late last minute visit from a builder mate of mine on Friday night lead to me putting off the loft job at the weekend. After he had a look in the loft, he told me that it would be worth strengthening the floor & making it a room (small office/ computer room) & not just a storage space...

    Vehicle Identity Check Testing

I collected my girlfriend's car from the garage where it was being examined by the Insurance Assessor. The lad in the garage said that because it was a old car the cost of repair (which he put at around £1,200) was more than the value of the car. I stopped at a mates garage on the way back &...

    Vehicle Identity Check Testing

It's my girlfriends car. A young lad on a motorbike crashed into the side of her - he admitted guilt straightway. He was a named driver on his grandads insurance. The grandad said he had 'protected no claims' so preferred to go through his insurance. I am assuming the damage assessor has...

    Vehicle Identity Check Testing

Vehicle Identity Check (VIC). My girlfriend has just been told that her little old Peugeot 106 (K-reg) has been written off following a minor accident. The only damage is a smashed rear side window & damaged quarter panel. It has been wriiten off as cost of repair is not seen as economical...

    Moving a meter?

I was thinking that myself - Surprise surprise it was not sonething the previous owner mentioned when I was buying the flat!

I find that shaving foam works on most household stains - also great for cleaning steel sinks.

    Moving a meter?

True - but mostly it means I have the hassle of going to get meter readings myself. Looking at the likely costs involved it may be a hassle I learn to live with!

This sounds like a winner to me! I will be tackling my loft space this weekend.

can I have wooden flooring in my bathroom ?

I have decked out the floor of my small bathroom with some left-over laminate of a friend. It was a bit of a bodge as I used two different types (but hey it was free!). It looks ok, but I am concerned about water getting under the boards - I don't think it will be a long term fix.

    Moving a meter?

It's actually the other bloke (barber shop) who has decided that the costs are too high. The lad in the ground floor flat wants us to sort it out as he now has a pay-key meter so no longer gets his meter read. He still has to let the meter reading bloke in to read the other two meters...

    Boarding a loft for beginners

I was thinking I might have problems with dust & damp. Thinking about it - I would just like to tidy up the underside of the roof & make it a clean storage space.
