    Rogue customer?

I would tell him that you can demonstrate that your charge is reasonable and, if he won't pay, you'll take out a small claim court action on him. Once you do that and he loses, he will also have to pay the court fees on top of the £150. It's easy to get the action served and as soon as...

    Domestic fire Sprinklers

recently had a "mist system" installed which was acceptable to fire authority in three storey rented house. much less damage than sprinklers as amount of water limited by contents of cylinders in roofspace. i did not DIY but it would have been easy as it's all glued plastic pipe.

I used BAL grout on the recommendation of the plumber who fitted my bathroom. It was absolute crap. Soft and powdery.... I could rub it away with my finger. I now need to know what to replace it with. See my post a week or so ago.

Complete CH & HW Failure - New Years Eve

I've just discovered, with help from this forum, that I have a Primatic. Mine has a small cold water tank on top and is not marked "Primatic" that I can see. Knowing what I now know, I'm changing it for a conventional hot water cylinder and fitting a sealed system kit. Primatics seem to be a...

shutting cold tap hard turns boiler on...why?

I have a WB 400RSF combi. When I close my cold kitchen sink tap hard - it's a quarter turn ceramic type - it turns the boiler on. My theory is that the water hammer caused by closing the tap sharply transmits through the water system and into the hot water side in the combi, and the shock...

glowworm fuelsaver Mk II OK sealed?

thanks for that. as I live in a hard water area and this cross contamination between HW and CH has been happening for a long time, I guess there could be a considerable scale build-up in the boiler. What is the best product for dealing with this?

glowworm fuelsaver Mk II OK sealed?

Well, on further investigation I noticed that hot water was getting into the CH side. I found this out by observing that, with mains stopcock off, water came out of the bleed valves when I had the hot water cylinder full but not when I drained the cylinder. On disconnecting the cylinder I...

glowworm fuelsaver Mk II OK sealed?

I'll have another good look but that's how I see it. Obviously, if it is how I describe, something needs to be done. Would the installation of the expansion vessel etc. do the job? Or would I have to go for the expansion tank?

glowworm fuelsaver Mk II OK sealed?

I have a glowworm fuelsaver mark II which was originally in a vented CH and HW system. While I rented the flat out, somebody has taken out the header tank and put bleed valves on the cut-off stumps of the pipes to and from the tank. There is no discernible means of filling the system...

tips for adding inhibitor to combi system

when I add fernox etc to my combi system I isolate a rad, drain it by cracking the joints, taking out the bleed valve assembly and then adding the liquid through the hole with a funnel and tube. Close system, add water to restore the pressure and away we go. this is a very tedious job. is...
