If the wiring was damaged before the nte5 (master socket) then the Openreach engineer will charge your service provider who then may charge you .

if there is power to it and there is no overheat trip on it then the element will have gone

depends what type of cylinder you have it should say on it what type it is. If it is a primatic you should not have added any inhibitor to it and may have got rid of then internal air bubble in the cylinder which keeps the dhw away from your ch water

We have a built in bosch microwave , the time select knob is flush and should pop out when pressed , this now does not happen the knob can still be used to alter the time while it is flush but i want to know how to make it work as it should , will something have stuck and is it easily accesible...

I think most of us want more info . Is it a boiler you are talking about or the cylinder ? what type of sytem is it , if you cant decsribe it pics would help .

Have you checked everywhere for external controls , ie a timer or a room stat , a timer could be hidden away in a cupboard or anywhere in the house

check the wiring to see which one or maybe both will feed the boiler then disconect and test with a multimeter to see which valve is supplying 240v to the boiler when it shouldnt be.
