LS to sat (Live/common terminal) terminal and switched live (call) temrinal from stat to boiler's LR terminal. As mrgas said, if a neutral is needed from the stat. then use the NS terminal. The combi gives the prog ropom stat it's permanent live (from the LS terminal to the stats...

    Air in system help

this is absolute nonsense - basically the short peiece of pipe between your vent pipe and cold feed should be 150mm in length MIN. and then after your cold feed the pump should come nearby (so the system is under mostly positive pressure). the vent tee should be before the cold feed tee also...

    No hot water

Graham, it is an easy task for a competent person to check the correct operation of a cylinder thermostat / motorised valve but it is ILLEGAL to work on unvented if you are not trained/qualified to do so! You can replace it if you wish but it is ultimately down to you. Yes the Unvented...

    No hot water

an Unvented cylinder thermostat cannot be picked off a shelf in b & q orordered from Screwfix! They need to be exact replacements, a) ordered from the MFR ideally and B) Installed by a competent unvented installer. It is a real safety issue here.

    stopcock outside not turning off

Corrosion inhibitor only protects against electrolytic corrosion though doesn't it, as you said metals rusting metals, ie steel being rusted. - not against affects of air being drawn down the vent (air getting in) or fresh water constantly getting in (pumping over)???

    stopcock outside not turning off

John - I have drawn water from the drain cock and put in a marmalade jar (cleaned out first though of course)! and put a steel screw in. (longish). is this ok ? do you mean if air gets in, this too will corrode the nail/screw, so you need to make sure the jar is airtight? thanks for your...

John - to be honest, the water was clearer yesterday - i could see the outlet at the bottom, today it seems muddier... maybe when i put my hand in to try and stop the float valve dripping, whilst i was looking i put some dirt from me into the tank!!! :( is this a big problem? the system...

    stopcock outside not turning off

i was only turning off the water to change a ballvalve!! will they charge me, or is it their property? - is it ok for now to just bail the water (to normal level) every day or so to stop the overflow? will this do any harm? one other point: is it normal for the f & e tank water to be...

    stopcock outside not turning off

I believe the newer meter type outside keys are white plastic and 1/4 turn - the key i tried outside my house is a crutch head type, and i turned it (after basiling out a load of clay/mud ... what a joke that was!!! but it kept turning (not really very stiff or anything though) but no joy!!

    Combi boiler heating wiring?...

Battery powered prog room stats require no perm live (just the switched live from the boiler) but non battery powered ones need a neutral (to complete the circuit). the boiler itself will have a perm live (ie as it is a combi it requires this to heat the hot water on demand) and therefore gives...
